I hung up my Union Jack instead of the Stars and Stripes today. Worse attack since WWII. Our prayers are with England.

Do you think this attack was worse than 9/11?

Worst attack on the United Kingdom since World War II I think he meant, not 'in general'.

Besides it's not really about "my disaster was bigger than yours" type of thing.

Digital Mike Binoche wrote: I blame BUSH and BLAIR, they have created the terrorists

I think some of the blame has to go the people who performed these acts.

Does any of your hatred go towards these people?

erm...shouldn't some of the blame go directly to the British Government that was in place between the two world wars...promising the same bit of land to three different peoples, then telling all of them to fuck off at one time or another???

Or was that Dubya and Blair's doing as well???

Welcome to the NOOLer's Blame Game board!!!!:nonono:

I blame POVERTY. If people were not so desparately poor and oppressed they would not be able to enlist / brainwash or rile people into carrying out such obsence acts of savagery.

We are going to see more war and chaos in the future as poverty still persists and we've also got millions of angry HIV/AIDS orphans appearing; angry that the West can't see past the end of it's own idiocy in meeting the need for supplying life saving antiretroviral drugs.

Craigy, I agree that crushing poverty is an evil that must be eliminated, and that it at least has the potential to serve as a breeding ground for the kind of hopelessness that would attract terrorist recruiters.

I also think it’s too simplistic to pin the blame for the terrorism on poverty. The terrorists behind 9/11 weren’t poor.

Osama bin Laden is a billionaire.

The “architect” of 9/11 has a degree in mechanical engineering.By his own account, it was his disagreements with U.S. policy toward Israel that angered him.

Mohamed Atta, the pilot of the first plane that hit the World trade center, was the son of a lawyer and had a degree in architecture and had completed his thesis for another degree in urban planning. The second pilot, Marwan al-Shehhi was the son of a cleric, and was a student at a German university. The other hijackers all had similar backgrounds.

These people weren’t poor; they were religious extremists. They don’t hate us because, as George Bush says, “They hate Freedom,” and they don’t hate us because they come from poverty. They hate us because of their religious beliefs, which include their religious perspective on the permisssibility of a non-Muslim nation existing on land that was once Muslim land.
