Ok, so it's been a little while I have listened to it, and it's now evident.

This IS Coldplay's best album to date, there is NO bad songs on it and everything is a grower...

And I mean it... the more you listen to it, the more you WANT to listen to it.

My favorite song so far is Fix You, but I think it's an odd choice... I love Talk & Speed of Sound as well.

So anybody that enjoys a little Coldplay and is not stupid enough to automatically say that they are shit, give this one a try, it's worth it!

They are shite! :D

No, i think its a great album. Square 1 is the best song, it sounds like an earthquake. Talk is another cracker.

Pity the lead singer is such an arsehole.

I saw them perform a lot of the album live on MTV. It wasn't bad per se, just astoundingly ordinary indie rock.

What became most evident to me while watching was that i'd like to pilfer the guitarists' guitar racks :D.

The only one of them that looks like a decent chap is the drummer. The guitarist looks like he`s so much up his own arse and how bored does the bassist look. It must be so boring being a bass player like that.Just there to underpin the sound unlike Hooky who is basically a lead guitarist rock god

Coldplay are Shite. ;)

Need I say anymore? I hope they dont fuck up my love of computerworld by releasing that song as a single - thereby rendering it unaviodable. Even trying my best to avoid it all, I know how "speed of sound" goes.

Coldplay in fact arent shit. They are just a nothing band. Boring. Nothing. MOR. wha wha wha. Ah. Nice centre-left types.Have good degrees. Nice carreer. Im sure they all have tasteful tastes in not so tasty cloths/partners/houses/music. Chris, what a Nice "bloke". Vegan. Wouldnt hurt a fly - and nor would his music - although permanenty flying into windows while listening to coldplay is a vision of hell.

Peter Saville had it down toward the end of this interview. Pity they diddnt give him 1 month to explain.

Liam - I'm surprised. Coldplay are the future U2 you know. At least thats where they are heading.

What are you jabbering on about? the future? The future as you surely know, is Garlic Bread. I should know. I've tasted it!

Talk is actually a very good song. X and Y is actually a good album. believe me, no one is more surprised than me when i say that. Yes, martin is a twat, but his band have some good songs and are well liked. you cant knock him for that.

incidentally, who did you go see after New Order at glasto?

I liked what littled I have heard, but so far I like their older stuff best. I'm seeing them in concert next month too!

I was totally on my own for NewOrder, having lost all phone and physical contact with my Irish friends, so I was in even less of a mood for Chris&Twats than I usually would. I decided to do the decent thing and go see crackheads Pete’n’Kate in the Left field. I knew absolutely nothing about BabyShambles and the Libertines, but one of the Irish lads was into them and so I said Id give it a try. The 1st thing to say is that their fans aren’t that smart. I approached 3 sets of obvious fans (with the 18th century British Navy gear) to ask what the history and basically the low down with this Pete Doherty stuff was. They were, what we call round these parts a crowd of “thick fucks”. Anyhow, any illusions of it being a youth version of the Hay on Wye festival, resplendent with troubled intellectiuals and brooding future bards in Petes tent were smashed. I stayed for 4 tunes, which I have to say I liked. Were I young and enthusiastic I could see myself getting into it.

Then I happened on a really funny comedy show in a tent with 3 Spanish geezers. And then I happened on what looked like a rave in a tent, until some blokes stood up with bagpipes. I was an instant convert to “The Peatbog Faries”. Not as good as Kraftwerk, but bizarrely brilliant. I have 2 albums at this stage.

Then I went to the Lost Vagueness Field for about 2 hours – which was great – and really friendly. Then to the Stone Circle, and to Bed.

Also: The Future is frozen Yoghurt.

Coldplay revisited Clocks by covering it and renaming it Speed Of Sound :evil4:

they are going to suffer from overkill.you dont actually have to buy a coldplay record to listen to it,you can hear them all day long on most radio stations

i reckon the bass player will jump ship and try go solo.in any interview he looks really jealous that chris martin is getting all the attention and doing all the talking.

Well, it seems I'm not the only one to enjoy Fix You... I learned it's the new single and you can watch the video on Coldplay's website.

My Coldplay experience.

Downloaded the BBC's Glastonbury highlights and burned to disc all of the Coldplay first. Never listened to it until I was in an unairconditioned school bus on a 6 hour journey in 100 F weather. Just as the heat was sucking our strength away so was Coldplay. Chill out music. After we stopped to get out and rest I put in The Clash. Our mood improved measurably and our strength returned.

I will say Fix You is good but it's more in the vain of U2's Unforgivable Fire--chill out, last lp to listen to before retiring for the evening.

Went to see Coldplay's TREMENDOUS concert in Montreal last night -- it was a huge success. Most certainly one of the best concerts I ever attended, and trust me, I've seen a lot!!!!

Much better than the crap New Order have been pulling lately!!! HA HA !!!!!!!!!!

Setlist :

Square One Politik Yellow God Put a Smile Upon Your Face Speed of Sound Low The Hardest Part Everything's Not Lost White Shadows The Scientist Don't Panic 'Til Kingdom Come Clocks Talk

Swallowed in the Sea In My Place Fix You

I was so happy that they played TALK... it sounded fantastic live with all those light effects!!! :thumb:

I haven't listened to the album since shortly after it came out. Whenever I think about possibly listening to it, my instinctive, immediate response is "why?" and then "no, I don't think I want to waste any more minutes of my life listening to that stuff."

quite possibly the most over rated band around at the moment....how can one band re-hash the same song so many times release it and all the fans claim its so original and brilliant.....i haven't seen a case of this since hmmmmmmmmmm U2.

Plus as a title I much prefer the JAMC's 'the sound of speed' to Coldplay's 'speed of sound'.

What amazes me is that most people crapping on Coldplay in this thread actually love the crap New Order has been doing in their live sets this year. I think it's awful that New Order have been getting away with such bad performances -- bad vocals, lack of emotion, no real visual effects, no visual CONCEPT, offkey performances, etc...

And I'm a genuine New Order fan.

So different worlds, different people, different perceptions maybe ?

All I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed Coldplay's show.

I forced myself to listen to about four tracks yesterday and then turned it off. I couldn't bear to listen to any more of it. It is just so BORING.

Nicos, I think you are right about Fix You. This is a great song. Despite my bad exerience listening to the BBC's Galstonbury highlights I have been playing it every night for the past week and am starting to really dig the Coldplay tracks.

Fix You is definitely a grower, i'm sure if it was NO's song we'd all be praising it's glory...

Most of Coldplay's singles are great, not much a fan of the albums though...

Yellow is a classic one string anthem for those born after 1960.
