It's one of the oldest jokes in military moviedom. There are steers in Texas. And, there are "queers" in Texas. However, I was born and raised here and am neither. I personally think the gag was best portrayed by Lou Gossett Jr. in Office and a Gentleman. ;)

I think he was brilliant in the "World Forum" sketch that M. Python did a while back.

What i love about it is all those idiots who pay £20 for a Guevara t-shirt and more money for a shitty little poster. Great. Such a perfect example a capitalism taking the piss out of communism.

Actually, I started this thread because there will be a restaurant opening soon here in Dallas called "Che". His familiar likeness will be right over the front door.

He was an ideologue like any other, so of course his human rights record isn't tip-top, but he is an important symbol for people to this day.

Case in point: my best friend's mom lived in El Salvador when she was younger and she endured rape, violence, and destruction firsthand during those years. Che's likeness could not be anywhere in their homes or else they would be killed. When she first moved to the US, she put up Che's photo all over the place because she was finally able to do so, and she's not even a communist. Che is a symbol of rebellion, especially for the lower classes, no matter what his politics, and if Americans and others have a hard-on over his image as some sort of romanticized figure (hippie-era throwback, no doubt), then they just aren't politically informed.

You will find most of these people dont know anything about Guevara. Ive never bought a Che T (although was close to buying a Red Army Faction one at Glasto .joke), but my sister brought me back a beautiful print of Che from her time working in cuba some years back, which I have on my wall. Its a promo poster from the film by Pedro Chaskel - and the colours work well.

Guevara had many good points, and achieved many fantastic things in his life. He also made many stupid mistakes - the biggest of which has to be the east german style secret police.
