Well, LE Roberts here we are ;) .

I love Hornsby's album "Spirit Trail" very very much. I think it's his masterpiece. I think he lost quite a number of his fans after becoming more jazz-like. It was a culture shock for those who loved him for "The way it is" or "Scenes from the Southside". I know one of those shocked people (not me ;) ).

Never saw him live... I don't know if he ever comes to germany again... I have to check that out...

Hey Bere, I saw him live once before - August 1999 when he toured in support of Spirit Trail. It was at an outdoor amphitheater/winery north of Seattle. It was an incredible show. By the finale - while doing "Spider Fingers" - bottles of wine were being passed down the row as everyone danced. Probably not the most sanitary thing in the world, but it didn't matter at that point. He opened with "Great Divide" and it just got better from there.

Seeing him in Oregon this time around - same kind of outdoor venue. Do you like Halcyon Days? I think the first few songs are good but then it kind of loses steam. Never picked up Big Swing Face, but the reviews I've read weren't encouraging. I agree with you though - Spirit Trail is great. Love Scenes from the Southside, as well.

"Halcyon Days" is OK again, after "Big Swing Face". I didn't really get into it. Perhaps I have to dig it up again...

My big three are: Harbour Lights, Hot House and Spirit Trail. (I'm referring to the jazzy ones... The genius of the first two albums may not be questioned here)

New Marx Seems to be a "Best of"-single...

A Night on the Town gets a vote because of the song "Across the River" - a highlight the last time I saw him live. Hot House and Spirit Trail: Both gems.

The same day I see him this month is the release date of his live DVD: Three Nights on the Town. Looking forward to that.

Was a great show, Bere. Was held in a park next to a river which really fit the music. Opened with Great Divide, ended with End of the Innocence. Included Spider Fingers, The Way It Is, Mandolin Rain, Sunflower Cat, Rainbow's Cadillac, Valley Road, Jacob's Ladder, and Gonna Be Some Changes Made. Hopefully he'll make it over toward you someday.

His contribution to Don Henley's second solo album 'The End Of The Innocence' was very commendable.

I picked up "The Way It Is" on vinyl because there was a deal of 3 records for 10 euros.

Didn't he sing that song, The Range?
