NY was growing with music in the late 70s and early 80s...heck its still a melting pot of new talent now...
I've just seen the movie The Nomi Song on DVD and it deals with the music and focuses on a group of musicians in NY. Having worked in the music arena at Universal it was interesting to learn about musician Klaus Nomi who was a performer of the New Wave scene, and would mix his Opera voice to pop songs. It was an amazing mix and I would have lvoed to have been at his concerts back then. the dvd provides an insight into the world of music at that time, which i dont think is the same as now a days. The music additions are interesting too - to see how he (klaus Nomi) mixed 2 different styles...it was sad to see how his voice was affected by AIDS, and what he did to try adn keep it as it was...
The Nomi Song - two thumbs up!
