Its actually 5 grand they can get fined.

Shame the TPS doesnt actually work. best way to avoid getting stuff like that is just never apply for anything and never give your number for anything.

Although it is fun to hear some little twat get so confused its untrue, just at the mere mention of the TPS.:evil4:

There was a programme on a few weeks back called "Oldest Buggers in Town" or something like that featuring Old people growing old disgracefully.

One old guy kept getting unwanted phonecalls and after a couple of seconds would say "Oh fuck off would you" and put the phone down

This is my new method :thumb:

Yeah until recently i was getting home from work and the answer machine was full every day with 20 sales message attempts. When i was in my method was "whats youre home number?.ill phone you back at home tonight and disturb *you*".Or whn the phone rang and theyd ask for me i would say "hold on ill just get him" and then put the phone down on the table for 10 minutes while i did something else.Theyve obviiously gone when i return to the reciever.Registered with TPS and it`s a lot better now (except for the odd day)

A good one that, one I mostly use myself. Occasionally though, depending on my mood, I'll pick up again after a few seconds and say something along the lines of "sorry, he's busy at the minute. He's conducting a black mass & currently humping a goat 7 ways from Sunday. Would you like to call back later?"

They usually don't bother.

If you're in the UK you can call BT and ask them to bar any calls to you from withheld numbers...

Whilst you're at it, ask them to bar any outward calls to 09, premium rate numbers (to stop internet activated auto-dial ups).

Altogether this costs a couple of quid a month, but it could save you a bloody fortune!

I once had a sales manager job at a telemarketing company. The three-page-long salespitch was filled with lies and my job was to keep the sellers stick to the script.

I quit after one day.

My best tip to stop telemarketing calls is not to take these jobs. I know we were all young and foolish once...

If your on Telewest they do Call Reject for £1.00 per month, which blocks witheld numbers. The silent calls piss me off the most though.

We have the same system in Sweden. Been registred there for 2 years, and maybe got 3 calls. They get very nervous when I inform them about me being registred.
