I'm not sure how I feel about that...

Do we really want this man representing us at the United Nations?

I'd rather have him than Michael Bolton :nonono:

His first address will be titled "How Can We Be Lovers If We Can't Be Friends?" :evil4:

Sneaky way Bush got him in. Perhaps he will save the internet from the UN.

Recess appointments have been used by almost every president since (and including) George Washington.

I wonder what my dear friend Henry Rollins will tell about this... I'm sure he will mention it at some Spoken Word Tour... :abovelol:

yes, its true many presidents have made recess appointments, but rarely have they used it for such a high profile position. By doing this Bush has showed his true contempt(surprise, surprise!)for the UN.

The bright side of him doing this is that he can only serve 1 1/2yrs without a congressional vote.

Is it high profile becasue of the person nominated or the position? What is the ambassador to the UN anyway? A conduit for the White House and State. If the aparatchicks at the UN don't like the face, tough.

As for real contempt, see billclinton's recess appointment of very gay James Hormel to very catholic Luxembourg.
