sad!! This fights been going on for awhile. Let's hope cbgb's doesn't close.

First place I went to on my first NY trip. Excellent club. Would love to have seen Debbie Harry in '77..... and fooked her.

Which would have been going some...for an 8 year old.

aah, memories. when i was 16 or 17 i saw my first junkie shoot up in the bathrooms at CBGBs. those were the days....

too bad there aren't any punk bands interesting enough anymore to justify its existence.

I guess nobody's going to pay the $70,000+ the club owes in back rent. Thanx CBGB's for bringing us The Ramones, Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads and Richard Hell and the Voidoids etc.

Sorry kids, but this really could be a nice family bistro if we just ripped out the walls and opened up the space a bit...or maybe a Starbucks?

This is f-ing sad, CBGBs is to rock music what Max's Kansas City, The Fillmores, and Sam Phillips's Sun Studios were. It should be a national fucking landmark, with a plaque and everything. But I'm guessing Mayor Bloomburg gets down to Dow Jones more than Debbie Harry, so the club is a goner.

Bloomberg is a bit of a fuckwit isn't he? Is he popular with the citizens of N.Y.C. Do you think there will ever be a plaque at the CBGB's site?

Yes, bloomberg is gaining popularity. Although, he's technically a republican but he sounds like a democrat most of the time. Politicians need to be more liberal to survive in this city. I have mixed feelings but he sure is better then that national treasure, Giulani. He probably will be reelected.

I have a feeling cbgb's wont close. Just a vibe no insider information. Its doesnt matter that their hasn't been a meaningful show there for decades, it would be sad to see it go. They also have a very nice art gallery which i visit more now then the club itself

Speaking of galleries, I saw Deborah Harry at my friend's opening. I didnt get to meet her but she still looks great.

one good thing about rudy, though--he brought down the mafia when he was district attorney.

is the wetlands still open? bloody bastion of hippiedom. right next to the shelter, where i used to hang out my freshman year of college back in '92.

Bloomberg: Was a Democrat, nominally changed to republican before he ran. Don't remembe why. Probably to avoid the bloody primaries.

Fillmore East: I went looking for it one day; it's a bank now. So much for your national landmark and plaque.

i think wetlands finally closed for good like 3 years ago. havent been aroud that way in along time. i played both CB's and Wetlands in the early 90's, some good memories, but like everything else it isnt what it used to be. we used to go to hardcore matinee's at cb's in the late 80's and there would be punks, skinheads, and homeless-drug addicts from the flophouse abouve CBGBs all hanging out, fighting and getting wasted, all the things that seemed fun when you were a kid

I just did a quick google search. Here's what happened:

Fillmore East became a gay disco called The Saint in the 80s...

And afterwards...

Actual address: 105 Second Ave., between 6&7 Streets. The lobby of the theatre/club is now a bank. The main part of the club was demolished in the early 90's, and yuppy apartments were built in its place. Sad...

What about the Fillmore West in SF (or was it simply known as "The Fillmore"? I'm a bit hazy on my rock-club history tonight)? Surely there has to be something there to mark the great musical highlights from the past...oh wait, it's San Francisco. They probably tore it down to make the "Full House" set
