what is the worst cover version of any song you've ever heard?

for me, there's no question:

Guns and Roses terrible version of "Knockin' on Heavens Door" What was all that "Aye Aye Yi Yi Aye" about ?

The daft twat ! and that Slash, "I am so clever I can play guitar and smoke at the same time "

Soft Cell - Where Did Our Love Go?

I've always wanted to hear Morrissey or Ian Brown attempting a cover of it :D.

I love Roger Chapman and his work very very much... But he did a cover which needs getting used to and I don't like it till today... It's a horrible cover of "Bye bye love" which is on "Hybrid & Lowdown"...

The girl singer who covered Crowded Houses song Hey Now

I was at a goth club in Philly in March and during the "midnight mosh pit" in which all of the teenagers in Hot topic clothes bang and tear each other up, I heard over the speakers, "The grabbing hands grab all they can" - and it was some gravel-voiced industrial singer, not Martin Gore. I turned to the friend I was with and said, "Are we the only ones here who know this is originally a Depeche Mode song?" I swear, it was so appalling. Only singers with decent vocal talent should cover DM.

i'm assuming you're referring to sixpence none the richer's cover of don't dream it's over. i like that one, myself.

michael bolton's when a man loves a woman, on the other hand, is absolutely dire.

I am a huge fan of anything 10,000 Maniacs, but i think Natalie and Co. should have left "everyday is like sunday" as is. they however did great versions of "starman" and "because the night"

I think Like A Virgin was worst

In fact, since it's a comedy, they were all laughable... which is a good thing.

How about Roxanne in Tango? ;)

:abovelol: for the slash reference. That's a horrible cover indeed.

The Jessica Simpson cover of These Boots is really dire, parts of the video ain't too bad though.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned William Shatner's "Lucy in the sky."
