Your the first people I told! And I think the first people who will know for at least a week or so!
She will be due in April I think. Now if I want to give the baby a New Orderish name, what are some ideas? So far I have:
Boy: Bernard, Steve, Peter, Ian, Phil & and maybe Spotnic 
Ok maybe just Nic. I dont think I have a chance with Bernard or Peter. But Steve or Ian???
Girl: Gillian, Elegia (My first daughters name is Rebecca, so that's taken)
Anybody have any ideas?

Nah, I like Amanda and Linda as girls names. Nothing to do with NO though.

Naming a baby is a lost art. Some cultures still understand the meaning of names, and choose a name for its meaning and propitiousness. We choose names for their sound, or trendiness, or name children after somebody we admire. 
If it were me, I would choose a name that had a meaning that would be special for that child.
Give the child a name that would not doom the prospects of a good education or job. Shithead (sha thee id) is not one such name even though I know someone who named their kid this.

I named my three children with as much thought as I could. My son, was named after his grandfather Leslie, who never saw him. so that was an emotional reason. My second child we named Heidi. It means of noble birth and we had had fertility treatment and said she'd be treated like a princess cos she was so wanted by us. My last child (7months ago) was completely unexpected after being told my wife would never be able to have any more. We named her Anamika which means miracle.
Pretty cheesy I know but it made sense to us!

my personal favourite names are:
boy: malcolm [insert father's choice here](a strong scottish name, with daddy's name attached)
girl: lucille irene (you can't have that one. that was my nana's name and will be the name i give to my first daughter, if i have a daughter)
Interesting how name choices change over time, isn't it? You don't see too many Lucille's these days. Or Irene's.
But why'd you name your banana? I know, I suck. Big time. :p
When my cousin and his wife announced they were naming their soon-to-be child "Sebastian", I thought it was a horrible name to saddle a kid with. Now, almost seven months after his birth, I think it suits him and he's just an adorable little bugger. So by all means, something like that which is "unusual" might actually work
Maybe it's because I've been listening to a lot of Belle and Sebastian lately (nice segue!), but I think "Stuart" might be a good boy's name. Unfortunately my step-dad's last name is "Stewart", so my brother and sister probably would be well advised not to use that for any of their children (unless, of course, either of them read "Catch-22" and get enamored of the "Major Major" character's predicament. That's unlikely because they can't read :p )
For a girl, I've always liked "Maureen" (Mo Tucker of VU fame), "Brooke" (an old girlfriend), "Bonnie" (another old girlfriend, and a good Scottish name as well), "Emily" (Emily Post? Ah, I don't know, it sounds pretty), or "Denise" (after my favorite female star formerly married to Charlie Sheen, but they're trying to work it out)

i love evelyn waugh, hence i also love the name sebastian...although it may seem a bit 'flighty.' ;)

Ok sorry I've often thought what I'd call my kids, kids, like thats going to happen, and its not easy. There are just too many people you hate, and thus associate their names with them.
You could just leave it up to your parter wife, like my friend has done.
My brother's baby girl is Sarah Emily, bugger that would have been a good one.
As for a boy I really don't know. Go for something normal with a reasonably normal speelling.
As someone who one worked with me, who used to be a teacher, once observed, the stupider and less educated the parents, the crazier their kids names.
And do stay clear brom Beyonce Charniece, Bo, Wade.

my mother used to be a social worker. she had a client who named her daughter...

VaGina (pronounced va-geena). she had no idea what the 'actual word' meant. that poor, poor child.

I've always liked the name Marnie for a girl. It was almost my name.
I like Stephen or James for a boy.
But really, it should be something special to you and your wife.

we called my son joe for above reason, and considered elizabeth for a girl (beth, ellie, lizi, betty etc). glad he wasn't a girl as ellie's are ten a penny in brighton at the moment. really wanted to call him roni but didn't think it would look good on his application form for uni or some top job in law or medicine(!), and didn't really like ronald.
we discussed names until my son was 2 weeks old. it's a tough one - they're stuck with that name for life
Hey, congratulations to the happy parents !! Well, not quite No. related but for a girl : CHRISTELLE ('s quite close to Crystal... Well, i know it's an easy one) and Steve for a boy... What do you reckon ?
