I love the one where Homer starts smoking weed for medical reasons.

This part is so funny:

Flanders comes knocking when Homer and the resident hippie guy. Homer says something like this "Dude, you do the best Ned Flanders imitation."

A totally pychadellic episode.

I love the one where Homer gets accused of sexually harassing the babysitter, and the tabloid storm that follows (the part where Homer's interview with the "Hard Copy" show gets manipulated into an attack on the host still makes me laugh)

is that the one where chief wiggum raids the guy's house? after everyone's arrested there's a shot of the house from the outside, one of the policemen says 'all clear' or something, then the bob marley kicks in and wiggum sings along to jammin'?

my favourite is when apu and homer fly to india to make a pilgrimage to the kwik-i-mart guru on top of the mountain.

on the flight over the himalayas:

homer: are we there yet? apu: no. homer: are we there yet? apu: no. homer: are we there yet? apu: no. homer: are we there yet? apu: no. wait...yes.

That's like asking what my favourite breath was.

As I type this the one with the company mountain thing is on...

Mountain ranger: "don't worry kids, your father will be just fine. OK everybody, put on your corpse handling gloves"

good grief how do you pick a fave simpsons episode??

several spring to mind.

the one where homer is in court for reckless driving, the judge demands his liscence she then chops it in half with a mini guilotine, then she feeds it to 2 rabid dobermans which then devoure his liscence, she then tell the court clerk to "burn their poop".

april fools day episode is a classic also, where bart in a desperate atampt to FOOL homer takes a can of his beer into a paint shop and chucks it in the paint shaker. he then takes it home and puts it in the fridge, when homer opens it bart jumps out and shouts APRIL FO* he gets cut off because the resulting explosion from the can blows the house up and near kills homer. chief wiggum then spots the volcano of beer shooting out of the simpsons house and calls for backup and pretsels. class.

The three that consistently make me laugh the hardest are Homer as the Beer Baron during another Prohibition. Mayor Quimby: "You can't seriously want to ban alcohol. It tastes great, makes women appear more attractive, and makes a person virtually invulnerable to criticsim!".

Also, when Homer wants to buy a gun to "protect" his family. Homer telling Marge to "Close your eyes, I've got a surprise for you!" and then she opens them to look straight down the barrel of a gun in her face has had me crying for years now. Also the bit when the salesman tells Homer "This thing will shoot down police helicopters." Homer: "Oh, I don't need anything like that....................yet."

Homer as an astronaut is the third one that comes to mind, what with the appearance of James Taylor, giant space ants, and a stellar guest shot by the inanimate carbon rod.

Homer gains weight to get out of work because of "Obesity Disability"

my favorite Halloween episode is when they parody the Shining, then Homer accidently invents a time travel toaster, then the teachers start eating the students

my favorite line, maybe... Bart comments on Homer's half-assed parenting, Homer replies ... "I thought I was using my whole ass!"

Mr Plow, thats his name that name again its Mr Plow

(or when the go to the Duff Theme park & Lisa starts tripping as the lizard king or the super sour ball & Gummi De Milo - slap that ass)

I can't remember if it's the first or second time that Sideshow Bob gets out of prison and tries to kill Bart, but the family has to go into hiding and live on a houseboat. Bart tries to get to sleep, but of course Homer keeps bursting in. The last one, when Homer comes in and says "Hey Bart, do you want to see my new chainsaw and hockey mask?" always has me in stiches

Some other ones:

The Germans take over the power plant (Homer in the Land of Chocolate)

Bart sees the Evel Knieval stuntman and decides to do it himself

Bart has a massive heart attack and has to go to fat camp

the New York episode

Marge and her friend re-enact "Thelma and Louise"

The Stonecutters (Homer's desire to re-enact the Civil War with monkeys)

When the Germans take over the Nuclear Power Plant. Emm the land of chocolate.

Wow, this is so hard!

The episode that comes to mind is the haunted house episode...

(betcha thought I'd pick the Leonard Nimoy one!)

Hard to pick, but my fave is "Lisa the Vegetarian". The part where she imagines what makes up a hot dog is hilarious!

With Rog Blake's good ship Liberator up there, I would have thought you'd go for either one of ENDLESS 2001 homages ( i CAN THINK OF 4 without trying....Homer's super chair, Homer scratching ass on monolith, blue danube rotating on the shuttle, Mrge's HAL kitchen (oh, how typical, more morons who watched the film, didn't read the book and missed THE WHOLE POINT OF HAL's insanity....PEOPLE made him do it,and that machines are innocents like children and animals, they know not what it means to be good or evil)...and there are LOTS more.)

Or I thought you'd pick the one where sideshow bob bans television and the representatives of TV file in, including Tom (the only real gallifreyan to play the Dr) Baker is among them.

or maybe the one with the religious cult where marge is chased by rover, and there's a lovely pastiche of the prisoner theme. There was another prisoner referrence in another ep, but it eldues me.

Any Treehouse of Terror episode, that is a fact!

Another gem: Homer is running from mobsters Homer: I said I was sorry! [All stop chasing and shooting Homer] Mobster: Aww, that's better Homer: Sorry you're such JERKS! [Resume chasing and shooting, fade to black; gunshots] Homer: OW! That one went in!

The one where Homer works for evil Mr. Scorpio (Albert Brooks). "Homer don't call me Mr. Scorpion. It's Mr. Scorpio, but don't call me that either!"

Pretty much anyone with Krusty the Klown, Apu, Moe.

The Duffman episodes.....OOOOHHHHH YEAH!

god this is hard... ok, these are'nt my favorite favorite ones, but they were damn funny.

the house that love built --- homer opens a daycare and in the process neglets his own children

po-mo moes' new bar, where homer opens his own bar in his garage and tricks REM into playing.

Homer as Mr. Burns prank monkey

superbowl road trip

Homer as the capitol city baseball team mascot.

the lolapalooza parody

bart and the kids get stranded on the deserted island ala lord of the flies and this show had the classic line "i'm so hungry, I could eat Arby's!"

BEST SHOW EVER!

Too many to remember.

My fav is where the police chief gets in Moe's and sees a dead body (bar inspector's) and people around. And for obvious reasons he doesn't want to get involved (i.e. to solve the crime and all that). He just runs out. What is he saying?

Absolutely. Before I opened this thread, I knew that I was going to list "Homer Badman" as my favorite episode. It's absolutely hysterical. Good call. :thumb:

I also am a huge fan of "Homer the Vigilante", in which Homer starts up a vigilante group. There are many brilliant ones, but one that keeps coming to mind is "A Milhouse Divided", where Milhouse's parents get divorced. Priceless stuff.

You Only Move Twice

The one where Homer goes to work for Hank Scorpio.

Also any other one with Albert Brooks (Jacques the bowling instructor, Brad Goodman, Cowboy Bob) was up there as well.

They are quickly greeted by Hank Scorpio, Globex's president.

Homer: Wow, my boss. Hank: Don't call me that word. I don't like things that elevate me about the other people. I'm just like you. Oh, sure, I come later in the day, I get paid a lot more and I take longer vacations, but I don't like the word "boss".

"Radioactive Man" is a great episode, too.

"We will have to fight our way out! Are you ready?!"

"Yes."

How do you know the titles of episodes?

I watch reruns everyday on Fox but they never show the title of an episode... That's why I can't come up with the title here... :skeptic:

Don't think they show em either during the episode, except on digital cable when you hit the "Info" button, class that digital cable is :)

Just give a description of your faves Ian, most of us here will probably know which episode you're talking about. :)

A friend told me that the one Bart was trying to cross a precipice jumping with his skate (but Homer did it) was voted as the funniest. That was an old and hilarious one.

The one with the Sopranos spoof in it!
