I often wish I was born in the early '70s, instead of the mid '80s, for although I caught the tail end of grunge (Nirvana had a few good songs and Smashing pumpkins were awesome), the music of my adolescence (that I tried so hard to avoid) was the "Macarena", the "Train", the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, bad ganster rap (Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang up to Nelly and 50 Cent), and laughable pop-punk/emo. Most of my musis is at least 15 years old or ayn new albums I buy are from bands that formed in the late '70s and '80s. However, I don't regret never enjoying the music of my generation because now I can look back and, instead of thinking, "Man, I had such bad taste in 1997. I can't believe I thought Wu Tang were the epitome of cool," I just realize that my taste in music had more substance.
