After 'Naked Self', a release which was muted (but excellent), to say the least, a few years ago, TheThe seem to have completely disappeared.
Matt Johnson worked a lot with Johnny Marr; Barney's electronic stable mate...
Does anyone know more? Has Matt retired / given up...?
Jeeezz, i truly do hope he's not ! Along with our Lads, i always considered him a significant potent force in the music field. I do miss his stuffs too.
I think he may have retired or something. All of THE THE albums were remastered and re-released in pretty boxes a year or so ago...
He has retired from touring and making records but is concentrating on other projects - film music and art-house stuff. Johnny hasn't played with them since the Dusk album - and certainly didn't tour with The The when they released Naked Self

Has anyone seen The The's 'Infected' on DVD? I'd love to see this. If Matt has hung up his six string he could at least milk it with an 'Infected' DVD and a DVD best of...
Nah - the DVD re-releases have been promised for years, but he's obviously not poor enough yet. If he were to get a yacht, things might start to happen!
