I've got 2 pair right now. One is New Balance 806AT. I Wear those regularly for walking. The other pair are Mizuno Wave Alchemy III. I use those mostly for running, but lately, also for walking around. The Mizunos are NICE running shoes.
Wearing my new Asics gel Empires right now. I have start wearing them in so they'll be good when start jogging again, which should be anytime soon.
Used to be Chuck Taylors but their lack of arch support makes them painfull. Been wearing a pair of New Balance. Comfortbale and no bling-bling advertising.
for everyday walking, fake adidas with velcro (i think i bought them at new look, or someplace like that, for 10 quid). for jogging, i think i have adidas, as well. real ones, though.
i blame my love for adidas on britpop and the mid-'90s.

Diadora Borgs. Old Skool. Not the original kangaroo skin unfortunately, just a replica (if I had the original I wouldn't wear them anyways, would just sit and look at them!). I started saving up for a pair of Borgs in 1982 - they were 45 notes even back then - then jumped ship and bought a pair of red Masters for 32 quid instead cos I couldn't wait/save any longer. Er, and then had to buy canvas Nike straight after cos Borgs went off the radar and they instead became the trainer of choice amongst the young.
I call them pumps. you call them sneakers.

You guys across the Atlantic have to get your head around this. It's not about comfort, it's about style. Bottom line is that it really has to be Adidas, Nike at a push..... bypass Walmart and get yourselves down to a decent sports retailer!

I don’t wear “Sneakers” or “Trainers”. Day to day – I stick to shoes.
For Running, its got to be ASICS. They are a technically great runner – in that they make the only runner that doesn’t leave you with a freaky foot after a simple run.
Made in China though. I do try and do the right thing – but there isn’t a choice as far as I can see with Runners.
I was unfortunate enough to work in a “sports” shop as a 16 year old, and it really put me off ever buying Addidas/Nike, etc. They make shit runners.

I was forced to wear shoes to senior school back in the day.....as soon as I got to school the Nike Division's were out from ma bag and they were worn until I had to go home.....then I'd deliberately scuff the shoes so they looked like they had been worn. Shoes are for ponces.
Anyways, Adidias Samba are a constant with me - both the standard leather and the dark blue suede. Second favourites - are Nike Air Cortez (Green Tic with Gold on the white trim)
Sentimentally Nike Division's are me favourite cos they were the first pair of Nike I ever had back in 1986.

I went through a phase of wearing Gazelles back in 84/85, but always stuck with the lime-green ones. Used to love them to death.
Then they made a bit of a comeback in the mid-90's after a decade's absence and 10 of us lads went on a stag-do in Tenerife and at the airport EIGHT of us turned up all wearing fcuking Gazelles! Mostly that shite cobalt-blue pair, but I'd spent the day before hairing around London and managed to nab a pair of 10's in PINK! Never touched Gazelles since that holiday, mind. They also wore out way too quickly!

Reasons Shoes are better:
- They look better (unless you are wearing a celtic jersey).
- They keep the rain out – something any scot should consider.
- They feel better to touch.
- They are better for your feet.
- They don’t smell as bad.
- They get you into poncy nightclubs.
- (Related to the above) They are better for dancing in.
- Whatever your sexual orientation, you stand a better chance with a nice set of shoes.
- You can buy a pair made under Union conditions, and not some sweatshop.
Reasons Runners are better:
- They are better for running in.
- They come in bigger and wider sizes, and you sont have to resort to t’internet to find a well fitting pair.
- Err, that’s it.
I suppose it is a matter of personal preference though!
The chunky white type do it for me Run DMC type, I have 2 pairs but the last pair I bought were ADIDAS Dark red with white stripes .. COOL DUDE
Though I don't wear running shoes as much as I did (that's how we called them over here.. even in french!), I always used to buy cheap stuff until one day I bought a Nike pair that lasted something like 10 years, and I'm not kidding!!!
I've even used them as boots for winter damn it, that pair was tough!
They died last year, replaced them with clones almost identical bought at wal-mart and guess what... they lasted ONE WEEK , the glue fell appart due to my, hum, removal without untiing the laces (as I always do anyways)

But I have to disagree, the ONLY reason shoes are good is to get you into nightclubs. Though there are a few more places nowadays letting people in with trainers.
The only shoes I'd ever contemplate wearing would be yer Kickers / Ellesse / Soviet type things, basically shoes that don't make you look like a gay boy. A couple of my mates wear shoes (brogues and shite like that) they just don't look correct. For example, I work in an office and have to wear shirt and trousers - but I keep my credibility by wearing my black adidas samba's ;)

for running I used to wear New Balance a lot cuz they made a wider shoe. at least the ones shipped over here were. I do a ton of bicycling and use toe clips so for casual over here I like Van's. My comfy faves.

hell, I work for Target, and I refuse to buy shoes there...we don't sell adidas...or Sketchers...

Has to be Nike (sorry Blue and Cake) here in Oregon, the state and school where it originated. Use 'em for casual wear, along with playing basketball and some running. Never a problem here.

cheap shoes tend to be cheap and crappy except for a few retro styles... don't ever be cheap with your shoes or coat/jacket, you wear those everyday, get good stuff plus it's the basis of how you look
of the major brands, Adidas look the coolest, Nike just sucks all around, Converse hurt my feet, the padding in skate shoes makes my feet hurt also.... New Balance by far seem the best for comfort and not hurting my feet, but most look absolutely awful IMO, thou i just bought an updated retro style... during the summer i just wear Merrell sandals or real shoes

But I avoid Adidas and Nike because they're crap companies.
DC's (made in South Korea, so vaguely less sweatshoppy...) or Adidas Skate (made in Indonesia, so sweatshops galore). Nothing else comes in size 13, or indeed is any use for skateboarding as goes grip or impact protection if your feet come off the deck. I don't own a single pair of what might be called "shoes", but I do have black suede DC's I use for formal occasions.
Gotta be Nike (Air Alvord III), they feel soo comfy. Plus, Uncle Phil is a big donator to my alma mater.

If there was a brand that instead of giving millions of dollars to the likes of Michael Jordan for endorsements used that cash to double the wages of its asian workforce, I'd probably go for those. Still have to be cheap though (if fair trade coffee cuts out the middle man, why does it cost 3 times as much as the normal unethical stuff?)
I'm a sneaker freaker. 30+ pairs, mainly retros: Jordan, Dunk, AF1, Air Max, etc, Nike collectibles. Some Adidas also.
