it's not that they're shortsighted, it's that they probably have no knowledge of the development of political islam. if you asked pataki who sayyid qutb was he'd probably look at you with a blank stare.

But then again, I'm not proposing to lead the charge* against an enemy whose motives I don't understand, either. Pataki's next paycheck against mine** that, after reading that article, I know more about 9/11 now than he does-- not that I ever believed that horseshit that they attacked us because they hate freedom (cue Mel Gobshite for rousing finale). Either that, or he does understand, and he's charging off on some Freedom mumbo jumbo crusade anyway because it suits his political agenda, which tells you something about what he thinks of the 9/11 victims.

* This fuckwit who appears to have no clue about who attacked his State and more importantly, why they attacked his State, wants to be the next President.
