Still waiting for NASA to release the pictures from our instrument - gives a slighty different angle as they show five 'slices' through the storm at different heights.

it's not necessarily the size, but the strength of katrina. jeanne lasted for about two days last year--i thought it would never end. the difference is that katrina had the power of a tornado contained within the size of a massive hurricane, which is unusual. that's why an area the size of great britain has been almost totally destroyed and flooded; we only see a very small part of it on the news.
damn interesting pictures, there. this is why oceans suck ass.

Well, to be honest.. if places like Mexico and Cuba survived through something like that, it's because the dams didn't resist that they had trouble with it.
It would have been a disaster yes, but less than what it is now.
I guess it's the risk of living under sea level....
Still, when it hit Canada, it was 1/6 of what it was there, and let me tell you I haven't seen winds so strong in a while...

Crap. It gives you a well-painted picture. Not the REAL one that was seen from the space.
