Kinda like when I heard Arlo Guthrie's "City of New Orleans" song while at work a few days back. Who's the tasteless moron to play that song in the first place, much less in the wake of NO being basically destroyed? I mean, it's a terrible song to begin with...

i've seen CNN headline news showing pictures of the aftermath of the hurricane of 1900 and playing 'galveston' in the background. not sure about the other stations, i'll have to check out the NBC ones and the weather channel to find out.

it was already in my head when i heard rita was headed in that direction, and i figured someone would use it. but it's kind of like playing the benny hill theme song over footage of war-torn berlin.

That reminds me of the segement on "Robot Chicken" when they solemnly began talking about Benny Hill's funeral, then suddenly launched into a Hill-esque farce with the coffin and undertakers in a chase with the Benny Hill theme played over the action. Laughed my ass off for days over that

The fuck it is. Not that I'd ever buy it or download it but I once saw Willie Nelson play it. Very, very good tune, probably the best in his set that night.

I remember a local "wacky morning DJs!" show playing "Another One Bites the Dust" during one of their breaks during the whole "Washington Sniper" situation back in '02 (on the morning after another shooting, if I remember correctly), but they had the misfortune of having song-lists set months in advance and couldn't change it.

I looked at a map of the USA other day and I'll be buggered. It seems that every second town in the mid-west or south has some crap county song named after it.

Well, that's what happened after the hurricane of 1900. They rebuilt and raised parts of the city several feet above sea level and built the sea wall.
