AMD v. Intel

Just wondering.

My laptops AMD, i can't grumble, so i've gone with that

i've always heard that AMD is relatively close to the processing speed of intel, and its cheaper to make. intel is more efficient!

If AMD was 'cheaper to make', why would they have been skirting bankrupcy for the last 7 years due to losing money on nearly everything they do?

I think they made profit in a few quarters recently, but are still down in total every year since 1998. Intel have been consistantly profitable, as have Broadcom, TI, Maxim, etc - all the other major silicon makers.

I used to visit geeky tech web sites regularly (when I was a geeky tech) and I don't think an Arab-Israeli discussion forum could possibly generate as much rage and insult throwing as AMD vs Intel. Never have I seen the word 'Nazi' thrown around so freely. Anyway, CPUs have become so fast these days that it doesn't really matter for most people, unless you spend all your time playing state-of-the-art games.

No comparisons. Intel is top notch, the others are second line.

I have AMD on my home computer. It works fine and I've heard it's comparable to Intel. Not like it's a celeron!
