Sorry, Ms. Wood, you lost me there, unless I'm still hungover from this weekend's festivites. They are actually two different songs with the same title; however, Cyndi's cover of Money, from Atlanta's The Brains, is quite superb, and a worthy hit.

This Charming Man There is a Light Never Had No One Ever
He has certainly claimed this, but in a letter to Q Magazine, Stephen Street refuted these claims, saying he only played guitar (or something like that.)Whatever, Street is adament this is the truth.
Reilly himself said that his original role was to be that of a session guitarist on Viva Hate and nothing more. However, when he looked at the sheet music Street had written for the backing, he found it so horrendous that he refused to play on the album unless he was allowed to rewrite all of it from the ground-up. Street agreed on the grounds that he would still get sole credit for it. So Reilly rewrote everything on Viva Hate except Suedehead.
a) What Difference does it make
b) Stop me if you think you've heard this one before
c) What she said

As for Vini, yeah I can believe he had a fair amount of creative input on Viva Hate's music. I remember him saying in an interview alot of Stephen Street's demos were musically awful but that Street had written Suedehead right down to the guitar riff. Vini claims he wrote bits here and there and was responsible for the guillotine "drop" at the end of the song lovingly dedicated to a former Prime Minister ;) but he never got adequate credit.
I think Reilly also said in the interview he was slightly surprised his name wasn't mentioned in the songwriting credits on the 1997 reissue of Viva Hate but that Moz knows who did what at the end of the day ![]()
Viva Hate is one of my all time favourite albums (along with Vauxhall & I) even the b-sides were fantastic with Will Never Marry, Sister I'm A Poet etc. classic! ![]()
wait...it just changed in about 3 minutes! ;)
