question for the guys

i tried to explain the following to a female friend, but she didn't quite get it, so i basically concluded it's a guy thing.

if you were interested in a girl you just met but she wasn't sure if you were interested, and she was with a male friend who obviously was just a male friend, and you kinda know the male friend, you've seen him around a few times, but he's not at the aquaintance level, and you invite them to a party, but you kinda direct it at the guy loud enough for the female to hear, who are you really trying to invite?

my answer is you are inviting the girl cause guys don't invite other guys out to a party that they just met and had no more than 2 conversations with.

Females have only two types of male friends. Those that want to get in her pants and those that want to get in the pants of her other male friends.

Life is short, just ask her. Make your intentions clear.

Methink you should invite both. Inviting the guy may be considered by her as a macho attitude ("I'am a girl so I'm unimportant and negligible"). Inviting her may be considered by her as a macho attitude ("Who the fuck is he to believe that I wanna go to his party without my friend?"). Inviting both is an indirect way of telling her that you're not indifferent to her but that you don't wanna look too self-confident.

yeah. ask the both of them in a "would you two like to go to this party...?" when they show up, talk to her. that way you aren't being rude by asking one, and not the other. if you can get her alone, just invite her. being single, after being in a relationship for ten years, i've had a lot of catching up to do. i find that a confident, direct approach tends to work better. playing aloof gets nothing done.

please remind me not to post shit like this after being out all night drinking.

but this scenario did happen. my friend didn't understand that she was the one being invited, not me or both. he could have simply asked her but he didn't. Maybe he was just being shy.

Just be careful that, if you ask the guy in the situation just to get to the girl, that you're ramming your tongue down her mouth so he doesn't get the wrong idea...:evil4:

The best strategy is to casually say "hey, there's this party", and imply that both should come, if they can make it. Then spend the entire time talking to her.

Where's the party then?

I like the sound of this girl, and it doesn't sound like there's much competition.

yeah, and leave your "member" in your pants. there is such a thing as too erect...i mean DIRect.

Hypothetically...

You'd need to invite them both because it'd be pretty rude to ask just the girl out when you're talking to the two of them. And if you seem to direct the invite towards the guy the girl might not show up.

The other trouble is that it'd be hard to tell if this guy wanted to be 'just friends' with this girl. You could be stepping on some toes!

Everyone says women are hard to read but men can be just as bad. I've had "does he like me or doesn't he?" moments. Unfortunately for me the men who make it clear I'm not usually interested in :\ohwell:

fuck these social mores. just whip it out and see what the girl does. problem solved.

i reserve this tactic for a E'd-up moment with girl(x) and myself.

Yeah, he's probably shy. I agree with all the "invite both" posts. It's the best way to deal with it.

Yeah. Actually, the best solution if you want to go out with a girl is not to invite her at a party, but to give her bananas. I swear it's true. And now she's mine (mine mine the girl is mine)
