Now it is official... We got our first chancellouress in history.
That will have some consequences:
1.) Germany will obey the U.S. unconditionally now (because Mrs. Merkel has G.W.Bush posters on her sleeping room walls 
)
2.) More taxes for everyone (but the rich)

Ive been lamenting about our gov't for 5yrs. Hopefully, germans will smarten up soon. Its taking us way too long here.

No this is will be a big step backwards... But let them show if they can do it better. The bill will be presented with the next elections in 4 years... I'm willing to emigrate...

We all feel the same in our countries... will to emigrate... two years to wait in France but whatever happens, I think it will disappoint me, once more...
I only hope that it will not be Sarkozy, friend of Merkel, Aznar, Berlusconi... thinking Bush is a guide, a prophet...
Schroeder should have been more tough in this issue... but he stepped back leaving the country to its own devices.
I wonder how long CSU will reign. Probably again for 10-15 years... :(

People have tended to get nervous whenever Germany invades other countries. Now at least they'll be able to do it under the Red White and Blue banner. God bless America.

I think the major gains for Die Linke were pretty good. Another couple of years of stodgy social democracy would've been not a lot better than the cristian democrats.
Why wouldnt schroder talk to die linke and the greens? There must be more to it than personal problems with Lafonatine. That would indicate Die Linke have some good radical policies (and can pull 12% of the popular vote).
