PC Volume

Can't increase it anymore; new computer doing my head in here - no matter what I do, I can't make it go any louder!!!!!!!!! It's the latest bloody thing and I can bearly hear it, through speakers or headphones (a little ott probably)but nevertheless, it's not loud enough - anyone know what I can do???

did you check the volume setting in the control panel?

Yeah, I've done all that, the old pc was much 'louder' and had more bass - this is a load of old **** help???

Is the speaker cable in the right "hole" (spell?)?

Is it a Laptop? Then you have to adjust the volume trough the keyboard.

Is it a built in souncard (on the motherboard), or a stand alone soundcard? Maybe there's a program for the soundcard.

You can also check for new drivers for the soundcard.

i connected my comp to my receiver(amp). just go to your local electronics store and ask the sales associate for "the cord for the 'audio out' from the computer...to the 'audio in' on the back of your receiver(amp)" try it...this should really do the trick!

the next best suggestion is to get a better soundcard. they don't really have to be pricey either!

True, they cost nothing now.

As you said, I to are conecting my PC to a reciever. With my Jamo 330 watt, the sound is great!

Thanks - I've got on to a 'man who can' - only problem now is the whole lot flew out of the window last night and is in pieces on the decking!

So, what was wrong in the first place? Did you get it to work before they flew out of the window?

MY HEAD!!! - I got hold of a guy and he talked through the process of 'configuring my driver' - I now have a healthy volume level (I didn't really throw it out of the window, but the thought lay very heavy with me for a while!) You would think these things would be automatically set up really when you buy them wouldn't you? Or is that just too sensible?

It usually works automatically. Dunno why your didn't.

Oh no, please don't say that, I have a new Dell ordered! Although I did choose a better soundcard that the standard one supplied & ordered speakers with a subwoofer so it should be ok. When I got my current one there was an icon in the bottom near the clock which you could click on to adjust the volume. This disappeared, I don't know how. Seemed to happen around the time I downloaded one of the XP service packs. Does that make sense to anyone? (Not having any trouble with the volume, just the icon's not there!)
