I now go for the small streamline trolley. I used to go for the one my son could sit in, but he is 4 now, so a bit big for it.

Now when you say basket, are you referring to the plactic things that you carry around in your hand????
Basket. The hand held ones.Don`t often do big shops.Just a few things at at a time.So a basket suffices.

But how do you call them in Texas?

hand carts...but the big ones with four wheels are also referred to as carts (as well as buggies or baskets) around these parts...
leave it to Texas to come up with so many different names for the same damn thing!!!
This is easy, a streamline trolley everytime!
Always have that temptation to skid round the corner of the aisle so a big trolley is too big for skidding antics. Or my control of a big trolley at skidding is rubbish
even if i have a few items, i use the four wheeler. no need to expend more energy than i have to!![]()

thats a valid point .the hand held basket can get a bit heavy if full and you cant find that last thing you`re after.
you have 3! choices in Europe and England??? fucking lucky bastards... we have more parking spaces thou and self serve checkout lines... we call them "shopping carts", not "trolleys" i think
I don't think Americans use the word "trolley" except for small trains, buses, or carts lead by horses like at the zoo or at a fair, entertainment transportation of no practical value
i find that a bottle of vodka, bottle of pepsi and 5 tins of asda smart price beans fit nicely into a small trolley
None, I usually juggle everything on my way to the checkout; those pint-sized cans of Foster's bitter flying in the air are a good indication to get the hell outta the way.

hand carts? ![]()
i go for the carts, as i always end up buying more than i expect (especially in the dairy area). of course, i'm stuck with the cart with the wonky wheel.
Shopping carts get in the way, except they're kind of fun when they're left in the parking lot unattended. I remember one summer, a friend and I were in the parking lot of a supermarket late at night. Not many cars were around, so one of us sat in the cart while the other ran until the cart was fast enough and jumped on. We just let it roll until it hit something. If we did that inside a supermarket, we probably wouldn't knocked over a few shelves.

As in a hoedown?
"Swing your baskets round and round, throw your partner to the ground"
Only because it's England...
"Shall I throw my partner roughly, Caesar"?
"Yes, yes, thwow youw pawtnew woughly, Centuwion."
