Also of course there is the Amorphous Androgynous incarnation that spawned Tales Of Ephidrina among others.
Lifeforms takes me back to Glastonbury 1994 and hearing that sample "they were drowning me/i think i`m a bit afraid" coming out of a giant sound system.Freaky do!
Dead Cities is the album for me.
I love all their albums, but LIFEFORMS is ultimately my favorite. Domain is my favorite track on there, with Papua New Guinea (big surprise) topping the ACCELERATOR charts and Quagmire rising above the rest on DEAD CITIES. :D
Thought I liked FSOL, but realised really its mainly PNG and its umpteen remixes I like. Accelerator didn't do a great deal for me otherwise. Ditto ISDN. Maybe I should check out Dead Cities though.
Dead Cities is tops.More brutal than Lifeforms but still some lovely chilled out sounds in there.
Some of the ISDN radio broadcasts they did in the 90s that never made it on to albums are superb.Still have them on tape.

ACCELERATOR is completely different in that it's geared for the dance floor and influenced by house. LIFEFORMS and ISDN and DEAD CITIES are soundscapes of tremendous variety, influenced by all different kinds of music, ranging from Eno's ambient work to harsh industrial stuff (although that's much more rare). All three albums are brilliant, and I highly recommend them. ACCELERATOR is not what they're all about - it's not really an essential part of what they're truly all about.
regarding the nostalgia viewpoints of the retro sounds of the "future sounds" of London on a website that champions the 80s sound ... the then present-day early 90s sound of the two guys in FSOL in which named themselves as the "future sound" as a way to seperate themselves from the "past" 80s sound in which most people on this website are still in in the year of 2005... but then we are regarding the "future sound" of the early 90s in the future in respect to these recordings.... but then in many aspects this "future sound" is still futuristic to many on this website who have no yet journeyed there yet... ironic isnt it? that prolly made no sense...
i always thought that Lifeforms was a bit overrated, but FSOL had many excellent songs, liked ISDN and Dead Cities better

Oh, man. That's a tough question to answer. They are electronically-based, and create ambient music that often still utilizes beats, drawing from a very wide variety of creative sources. They create these richly-textured collages of sound that still maintain this enormous listenability and coherence. They are tremendously creative and also very ace. Check them out, Rian! 
Accelerator is shit except for Papua New Guinea.They released an album in 2002- The Isness i think it was called -which was the possibly the worst album ever.Gary Cobain had gone all hippy drippy in the 6 year gap after Dead Cities.It really was awful.I think i`ve never recieved back my copy after lending it to a workmate and not cared if i get it back really.

i see they have done a new album under the Amorphous Androgynous psuedynom.Alice In Ultraland .Seems like they`re carrying on with that project these days.I prefer the FSOL stuff a lot more.
It's difficult to decide between albums. I got "The Isness" a few weeks ago. A very a-typial thing. Every of their albums is different. But I chose "Accelerator".
