2. Which NO song would feel right at home in a David Lynch movie?

Just saw Blue Velvet a couple days ago on cable and it's still strangely good and remains my favorite Lynch film followed by Mulholland Drive, mainly because of Naomi Watts performance otherwise the ending left me really confused.

A few JD songs comes to mind but to stick with NO, I think Ruined in a Day could work in a Lynch film, it's somewhat eerie and brooding and maybe Avalanche, the one with Gillian singing, a la Julee Cruise.

Blue Velvet is my fav Lynch film too. I liked Lost Highway (and the fact that Bowie's "I'm Deranged" from Outside album was used in that film). Twin Peaks another favourite. Then Mulholland Drive. Paris, Texas was (another!) great movie- remarkably enough, it reminds me of Beckett's work. err, i guess my list is too long?

NO songs and Lynch? This is one of the best threads i've seen in days!! maybe: Dreams Never End, The Him, Avalanche, Elegia, their cover version of Turn the Heater On, We All Stand, Leave Me Alone...it's quite a difficult Q

"Lost Highway" is really my fave, but the vote goes to "Mulholland..." just because of Naomi. She's just the best thing ever. I'm with the big fucking monkey in King Kong. Oh yes she is. She just does that thing where she looks half like she's really angry and wants to kill you, but half like she's totally brokenhearted and she's going to burst into tears at any minute. It's very endearing. You just want to sit her down, give her a hug, and make her a cuppa.

Blue Velvet probably my fave, Dennis Hopper's character seemed to me like another one of my dad's drinking buddies from back in the day. Eraserhead's good as well, and all Twin Peaks stuff is okay by me, except for maybe after the mystery was solved and we were left with things like Heather Graham as a suicidal nun

The song would be As It Is When It Was, something on the softer, more human side, before the insanity sets in.

I did quite enjoy that film however:) .just can't recall the title of it.

"I'm deranged" is brilliant, the other songs on lost highway soundtrack isn't bad. On a side note: Mulholland Drive was supposed to be a made for tv series but the ABC network execs pulled it at the last minute after reading the script saying it was just too wierd. And I think Lynch was not happy about that and had broken off ties with major hollywood producers. Understandably frustrated and bitter, but hopefully he returns and makes movies as only David Lynch can do.
