yet another Depeche thread (tour setlist)

Here's their typically set-in-stone setlist for the current tour. Makes me wish tickets weren't so goddamn expensive since it looks like a good list.

It's the 80's revival. They'll get away with it.

I'd rather they just played the first two albums. So rinky-dink.....

Last time I heard them play that was seeing them at Birmingham NEC in 1990 on their World Violation tour.It was a medley with Behind The Wheel.

Went to see them this past Thursday with The Bravery as the opening band in Tampa.

I think The Bravery sound a lot better live and was a great opening act.

I wished DM played more of there older stuff.

If tickets cost less than $95 and I didn't have to travel to AC or NYC, I could go, but I'm close to flat-broke now.

Iam going to see DM March next year, I will have to drive about 300km (DM live will take place in Katowice, very south of Poland), but Iam sure its worth

I haven't seen them do People Are People since 1988 on Music For The Masses Tour.

If memory serves, they did Master and Servant on Violator Tour in 1990.

saw the world violation tour in `90 with nitzer ebb in montreal. amazing. at their creative and commercial peak. this set list looks like the show would drag in the middle with the new songs.

my question is... does depeche mode gain new fans with each record? i wouldnt necessarily thing so, yet they do these montrous world tours, selling out arenas still.

having said that, lets say 80% of the people that go there want to hear old stuff... being a numbers game, they are losing a bit of their fanbase each time they go out on the road or put out a record. i kinda gave up on them after ultra, only paid attention to tenaglia's and rauhofer's mixes of 'i feel loved' on the last record. this one? 'precious' is ok, but lacks the drama and intensity songs like 'enjoy the silence'or 'strangelove' emitted both on record and live.

with the album being a murky swamp of noises and loose rhythms, how will this translate live? if they were smarter, they would play more older stuff while still playing the single and other potential singles from the record, but not almost the entire thing. and the price? a joke.

Are they really 95$? that's what I paid for my tickets, but that's canadian money, so it's near 80$ USD

I Paid $75 to see them.

Another one holding out for Wilder to make a glorious return to the fold? Can't see it somehow.

Perhaps Vince Clarke will drop by too.

Depeche Mode is far better than either U2 or the Rolling Stones. I paid $165 for U2 in Chicago this year and had to listen to Boner mumble all night.

I would have gladly paid $165 for DM over U2, and DM only cost me $75.
