I quite like the 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong collection but I don't know where to start in terms of albums because they've made so many of them. Fall fans let me know which I should look out for, thanks.

I asked the same thing a while back, and the one that got me into them was Hex Enduction Hour. That is generally regarded as the definitive Fall album. You know 'The Classical' and 'Hip Priest' already.

The new album, Fall Heads Roll, is another corker.

Cheers, now all I need to do is find a place that sells it!

Fook this is still a difficult question. There is no one definitive Fall album, they are all unique in their own way. New one is very good indeed though, their best offering IMHO since The Unutterable.

i know what you mean,so many fall albums around, but that shows how amazing it is that fall have lasted so bloody long.the've stayed around being underground and cool for decades.i bought there first 2 albums in late 70's,put them at back my mind for 10 years, then bought 2 more in early 90's,put them out my mind for 10 years, then bought a couple of compo's in 2000's i think old monkey is your man on this one. Bend sinister or the 458489 compilation Twist metioned are both good start points, but also add This Nations Saving Grace & Extricate.

Two Librans on the Unnuterable is one of my favourite Fall tracks still though

'Hex Enduction Hour' or 'Grotesque' for their early, spiky Krautrockesque sound.

A-Sides or 'This Nation's Saving Grace' for their midperiod, growing more accessible sound. The _Totally Wired_ is a fairly comprehensive singles compilation.

or check out Pavement's _Slanted and Enchanted_ for the best Fall album that the Fall never created.
