in Québec, Le Parti Québécois, currently the official opposition and the political party for the independance of Quebec, just elected at the head of the party a 39 year old gay man with past of cocaine abuse, and who is quite conservative (if that is possible for a gay man)

He's our former minister of environment, and just returned from a break to study at Harvard in a special "young leader" program there..

I have nothing against it, for the coke thing, Mr W Bush got elected despite of that, but what I find amazing is that this guy will probably be the first gay prime minister of Quebec.. and it would mean we would have elected a gay before a woman...

Only in Quebec... ;)

There are gay Republicans here, but they're not particularly fond of the Republican Party's gay-bashing.

But this guy just looks like a PSB-loving pansy, if you ask me. ;)

:abovelol: I heard this particular politician has aproached Jimmy Bummerville(formally of the dance act Bronski Beat)to do an election campaign anthem, with the only stipulation that it has to be of the gayest order humanly possible..apparantly ther'es a pint of spunkleton waiting behind the bar if Jimmy can produce..Jimmy,ever the guzzler, is pulling out all the stops, bless the little fella.:brow:

A. It's hard to find anyone in a position of public power nowadays who hasn't taken cocaine at least once in their life.

B. So what if he's gay? I didn't realise a woman had to be PM before a gay man could be.

C. You think it may be worse than Dubya? Er... how exactly?

I despair... I'm back off to bed...

Don't get me wrong.. it's just the fact that so far, the only woman that managed to be prime minister in Canada (unless I don't remember one in the other provinces) was designated and lasted 2 months until her party got the worst election ever.

I find it funny that we wouldn't elect a woman, but there's no problem with a gay.. not that mind, it's just that, it's unusual ;)
