no there's enough anti social knobhead behaviour on our streets. Plenty of time to get pissed. Mind you i am sure there are a few on here who wouldn't object to Tesco opening a little longer into the night

Isn't it the pubs will be physically open for 24 hours but most are opting out of serving alcohol for 24 hours? I suppose it's different for the Engerlish as you lot traditionally get turfed out at 11pm yeah? Up here in Scotland it's not too bad with most pubs open til 1 or 2am depending on the licensing.

Personally I think the police and the emergency services will bear the brunt of this; alot of dickheads will drink themselves into a coma trying to look hard. The only upside I can think of is being able to take your time with your final few drinks of the evening. I don't see any reason to change the licensing up here in Scotland... a better idea would've been to update the English licensing laws to the Scottish ones so you lot get until 2am in your locals as well? Just an idea.

It's not like they are going to be open 24 hours 7 days a week. Not round here anyway. The bars will just excercise the right now and then or on special occasions.

Well open-end is usual here (until 6 or 8 a.m.)... But 24 hours open? What about cleaning 'n stuff. And will there be really enough people in the pubs in the morning, that it pays off? We tried to run our film theatre 24 hours in the first week when "Episode I" started. No one really cared...

Here, some are opend from 10AM to 5AM.

Isn't it Irland who has open bars 24 hours a day?

Think I read that in a paper last week.

I agree with Mr. Booth... Not a good idea...

Carter USM claimed anytime, anyplace, anywhere... it is about to become reality... In my opinion, there is a time to fancy a good pint... Having one at 8 or 9 AM would be a disturbing experience...

Well, it is a point of view afterall...

Memory of England.

Morrissey said : "barbarism begins at home". Jiphy (my nickname) claimed, back on the continent : "barbarism begins as soon as the pub's bell rings"...

What is does have going for it is spreading the dumping of muppets into the street. There are places here, and I'm sure on the mainland where 10 or more pubs kick out into the same street at the same time....and all hell breaks loose.

I rather like the idea of them staynig open but not serving booze, it means that the real pissheads wil fuck off in no time in search of more beer, while the more normal folks can do a sort of post pub coffee and gabbing thing without moving....I guess that means if you're on the pull you can go home withe lucky winner and dive straight into bed since the prelim's were all taken care of in t'pub.

Having one at 8 or 9 AM would be a disturbing experience...

Take the tube of a morning - and line, any direction - and you'll see at least one non-tramp sucking down some purple tin. Most of them look like office or warehouse types - not your common or household vagrant or itinerant - and most of them look like a pre-coalface shot of liquid electricity will be the highlight of their teeny tiny lives...
