On a cold, dark night the other day, I dug out the "Fisherman's Blues" album by the Waterboys and had forgotten how wonderful it still is: the serene and lyrical sounds of this classic album that nourishes the soul. From the opening title song, it blends a bit of old celtic music with rock and plenty of charm and spirit.

Their earlier stuff is great as well. Tracks like "Whole of the moon" "Girl Called Johnny" "December" are super!

Any fans of this album and/or The Waterboys?

I'm not exactly a fan of their "folksy" period, but "Fisherman's blues" (the song, not the album) is one hell of a great song! As for the rest of Mike Scott's body of work, I'm one of those people who think that "A pagan place" is one of the best albums ever released...
