Durutti Column last night

The whole band and not just VR were superb last night. it's probably the best i've seen them. anyone who is toying with the idea of going to see them this tour should definitely go, as I had a great time. There was probably only about 100 people there but that didn't dampen the spirits of anyone there.

Did they play "Somewhere" and "someone's party?"How many dates are they playing mate?Any in the North East?

Sounds good- im off to see them on Friday @ The Cluny in Newcastle, saw a review of Edinburgh show & sounded good, nice mix of old & new songs & exc. musicianship. New cd is out now (on E-bay). Uncle Liam saw them couple weeks bk in Bury & said they were good as well

Fucking Aberdeen. Pearls before swine. I saw I Am Kloot about a week after I move up there at the Lemon Tree. Less than 100 punters - and this was in fresher's week.

Glad DC were good.

ARGGGHGHHH! I'm so jealous!

The guy on bass was the producer for the last 3 albums who happens to also produce for I am Kloot and the fall. VR said he was the best producer he's ever worked with. The new songs were really good, even if he joked about how depressing they were, as they were themed around manchester rain and war!

Did they play "Sketch for Dawn", either version? Sketch for Dawn I is one of my very favorite songs of all-time, by anybody. I wish I could see them. Perhaps I'll be able to catch the Manc gig on April 1st of next year.

yeah they did play sketch. VR kept syaing he had just bought new guitar which was jimmy paige's or summit. Whenever he played something from return of the durutti column this guitar made it sound far more rockier and with his jazz style drummer, sketch.. sounded as it never has before. I don't think he played otis, which was a surprise.......

ROTDC was by far the best album, but his new stuff was actually very good.

it's a shame there was only about 90 people there to see it, coz if it was bloody arctic monkeys or something the place would have been out the door, but thats aberdeen for ya. VR appologised for making people come out in the cold! bless him

There's a new album on the way? Fantastic.

I can't really afford to go and see them again, but I've seen Vini twice now and he was spectacular both times. Terribly underrated musician.

Well, Newcastle gig (last night) sound exactly like Aberdeen & Edinburgh gig reviews earlier in the week. Same crack etc.. The band were very tight and yes did play Otis, don't think they played 'Missing Boy' though. There was about 12o people there and Vini seemed quite touched by the audulation. 2 encores as well. Played for 80 mins.
