Still commuting on bicycle

-19 C right now. -25 C with wind chill. That's -3 F and -8 F for those on the proper scale. Yep, it was a fun ride home. I even fucked around and took photos. The real bitch about commuting on bike during winter is the extra time it eats. What on a nice non-winter day would be a 20 minute ride now turns into a 40 minute ride. It takes 10 minutes to dress for it. 15 minutes to undress and dress in business casual.

And the snow. It has snowed 3 times for the current coverage. So ice that formed from the foot/tire tracks of the original snow are hidden. I wiped out last night on one and landed on my ass. Roads that are not plowed but heavily driven are a bitch. Front tire does not know where to go as the surface shifts.

I'm thinking an electric wheel chair with enclosed heated canopy is the way to go. That or car.

I really wish I lived somewhere with a real winter. It's just cold, grey, misreable and shite here. I want feet of snow!!

Then again, according to the powers that be in the UK...everything stops when it snows.

we had a powdering of sort of hail stuff last week. The new trains that have just started running here, wouldn;t come out and play....because they were built in spain or somewhere like that, and their onboard computers had never seen "snow", they got confused and just refused to move. They obviously reasoned with them or overrode them cos they were off and running about an hour late.

I have a car but usually take the bike to work. The past 2 days were impossible though. -13 here in Colorado. I feel so stupid having to pay the $3.00 for paarking 5 days a week so I generally avoid it. I have much more fun riding my bike and it usually doesn't take much longer than driving. Traffic here is terrible.
