Nothing unfair about it at all. If you're hetero, there's no law preventing you from marrying and enjoying all of the rights that come with marriage. If you're gay, there are laws preventing you from marrying. Now that gays can marry in the UK, there's still nothing discriminatory about the law towards long-term hetero couples, because, like before, they can marry if they want those rights that come with marriage.
