He was born in the Spring, hence shepherds tending their flocks out in the middle of night and Joe and Mary not being icicles on the side of the road being picked at by Roman limitanes.

Pope Whositcalled arbitrarily declared his birthday to be in December to coincide with the winter solstice, which was celebrated in Rome with Feast of Mithras, a Persian god co-opted by the Romans, originally from Zoroastrianism, a monotheist religion that Christianity is heavily based off of. Having the make-believe birthday coincide with Mithras' birthday fell in with the Church's move to ease people out of various pagan religions by integrating their sundry holy days, deities, and other religious figures as Christian holidays, saints, or demons.

Obviously, he (if he existed) was born in October since according to Luke he was 33 and half when he was crucified and we know it was in April.

There's no scientific proof that he was ever born in December...my dad says he was probably born in the spring. I don't really care about Jesus, though, because I'm an atheist with no religion.

Jesus message: be cool to everyone, all the time, no matter who or what they are.

I'd think based on that that most of the world's "god fearing Christians" will be first in line for the molten sulphur jacuzi

xmas was originally on Jan 6th, its now called the epiphany. in russia, they still celebrate 6th jan being xmas, because, they're orthodox. as to the question, no-one the answer to your question, it was just put there in december, because the americans wanted to finish their tax year sales on a high, then everyone else copied, except for orthodox christians countries, who left it on 6th jan
