heard a lot of horror stories from those here afflicted with a certain US built virus....I mean operating system.

here's how to avoid..... 1.back up your C: drive to you D: (if u have not partitioned your HD...fuck you you deserve what you get), using the drive imaging tool of your choice (that can either cost £1000 or you can learn how to use a linux bootdisk with dd, cat and gzip on it). 2. Make sure the chunks you backup to are either cd or dvd size. 3. rename the chunks to "Olsen twins get naked and fistfuck each other" Vols 1-howeever many (things you can also try are "Charlotte church and 14" vibe", "paris hilton fucks everyone") 4. Share the chunks, so named, on winmx and emule. 5. next time Windows randomly destroys all your work cos it fet like it, or some 9 yrold from uzbekistahn breaks into it and turns your machine into a phising-spam zombie....you will have 100,000 copies of your data available to you online where ever you are in the world.

Steve, you forgot to add another partition called BELLADONNA !

Personally I favour displaying all 160Gb of the HD as a hex listing and then writing out copies of it on paper by hand with a leaky ball point pen.

Partitioning drives causes problems although it makes reformatting easy. Never lost a HD. My old one failed to start up because of a boot sector error but I made that HD a slave, saved all the files I wanted on a server and then reformatted.

Best defense--firewall, up to date virus scanner and spyware killer. Also, keep your children away from the pc. I know people that have back up hardware. I guess it is an external HD or something.
