I just run my PC into my hi-fi.

I can't actually give a suggestions, but I can give some pointers.... Active speakers only obviously, you'll need an amp in 'em or you will melt the headphone amp in the laptop. Computer speaker makers lie.....I am not jokin...I had seen speakers 6 inches high, costing a tenner, sold as "1,950 WATTS" The fact the 2KW of speakers is 6 foot high and needs 3 people to move didn't dawn on them. It is however a really good reason to take some back to shop if u don't like them

As far as I know but, the trade descriptions act has actually been withdrawn....so it is fully legal to sell tiny speakers as "2KW"....you can also sell fake gold as gold legally now :D
