ahhh the 12" is the "echo" mix...just found that, as well as the last minute of it missing off my mp3 :(

With the exception of NO, that 12" is THE best sneaky mid-80's dance track.....never yet heard it played out on big speakers cos my 12" of it is....well....utterly fuckered not to put too fine a point on it.

I can't warm to MoL, even tho I fell in love with it the first time I heard it, that sampled slap bass is horrid...much better live with the real thing.

As for the "Other" propaganda...greta songs...worthy of the name...but Betsi really is just some random American rock chick singer....they should have themselves flah frozen until Claudia was good and ready to ome back :D

Only have the one album, which fortunately was released in the US, only thing I've ever seen by them. Bought it cause they covered Josef K's Sorry For Laughing. Good take on that, I should say.

I remember being sat next to Claudia Brucken briefly at that 1986 Festival in the GMEX. I think she was with the journalist Paul Morley.

Claudia and Paul were married.

Anything at all by propaganda other than "1234" which has a different singer.

I originally bought the classic A Secret Wish album on second-hand 12" vinyl at a record shop in 1999. A brilliant album.

Still being in my mid-twenties, I don't have much other knowledge of the band, though I bought the 12" single of Only One Word second-hand too, which didn't do the Virgin label as much credit as they earned when they revitalised Simple Minds (so to speak).

But I recently bought the enhanced 2002 CD of Outside World, a compilation of some of those classic extended mixes by Trevor Horn and Steven Lipson. I recommended this even if you own some of the original 12" singles from 1984-85. The sleeve notes are very interesting too, especially as Paul Lester tells that these 11 tracks were only a handful of the 39 mixes on a compilation that (if I read this correctly) was subject to a legal tug-of-war. Again, I'm not that old - I'm not sure exactly what they and I am on about!

They sound incredibly dated now, Trevor Horn's production style perhaps ?

More the heavy use of Fairlights, PPG's and Linndrums.

However....I bought a compilation a while ago of FGTH mixes....and without exception, the original Horn/lipson mixes knocked fuck out of the modern "big name DJ" ones.

Well, there was 1234...the music is great. but the vocals could be by any chick from any truck stop bar in the US.

There is a stack of Act stuff as well as Claudia's solo work

some of it is still here ztt records for sale, along with some of her other work, with Andrew poppy and that Mccluskey bloke from OMD.

There is a second full album made 4 years ago, but it never seen the light of day. Can be found on the p2p nets, or if you have a decent size mail inbox I can send it a track at a time. it ROCKS.
