I agree with these three. "And she was"
is my absolute favourite though. Class ![]()
- once in a lifetime
- life during wartime
- and she was
- road to nowhere
- burning down the house
(i can't narrow it down to 3)
Can't really limit myself to a top three being heads better than the rest, the following five are very closely grouped, with not much difference between them all.
Good as the Stop Making Sense film is, it still falls far short of the actual gig, one of the most rabid audiences I've ever seen at a show. Plus, we got Love -> Building On Fire as the third song of the set, a lovely little gem.
Once again, it was great to thank Jerry Harrison personally for his contributions to a wonderful band after the Oakland New Order show this past year. I didn't wanna rehash stuff like DB's ego, etc., just an acknowledgment for his fine work. A lovely man indeed. ![]()
- Memories Can't Wait
- The Big Country
- (Nothing But)Flowers
- Cool Water
- Life During Wartime
- Memories Can't Wait
- Book I Read
- Mr. Jones
I first saw David Byrne on the Rei Momo tour in '89 when I was 14. He was amazin but he only played two Heads songs, Papa Legba and Mr Jones, in the entire set.
I've seen him loads since and there's been more and more Talking Heads stuff creeping in with each gig to the extent that on the last tour the set list was about 80% of their material.
I think this is sad because with a lot of the stuff his touring banmates cant do it justice (he murdered What A Day That Was on the last tour) and also I really like his solo stuff. Feelings, Rei Momo and Look Into The Eyeball are right up there with the best of TH stuff.
As for the rest of them...they want taking out and shot for that scandalous "The Heads" project. Talk about pissing away your legacy.....
the whole album - more songs about buildings and food
1.and she was 2.the girls want to be with the girls 3.artists only
thats what i think, they rock they roll they rule!![]()
Now a good thread. Why only three?
- Burning Down Thw House
- Found A Job
- Pulled Up
Special mentions to "Sugar On My Tongue" and "Love For Sale".

Sounds like my 3 best of as well.
But there are more....
Funnily, I haven't listen to them for years. I have to dig out my old vinyls once again

Didn't particularly mind the Damage Is Done single, with the girl from Concrete Blonde, I think, but I always wanted to hear that as one of her songs, but I have never had a desire to hear the rest of that album.
