last year that movie was called most-wanted in 2006 here. Yesterday I saw it. As a fairy tale its great, but Iam just to old to be excited.

Saw Narnia a week ago with wife&kids - they all loved it. I enjoyed it too, but not OTT. Not dreading having to watch it again (& again & again) when I have to buy the DVD for them - so that's a good sign
My oldest son, 12, got the book for Christmas. 767 pages. He refuses to read it because it is a childrens story.

yeah, its best to let kids figure out what they wanna read for themselves. me dad tried to get me to read the Hobbit etc when i was a kid. Had no idea what was goin on, and it put me off those films for life - as great as they are.
saw King Kong in FACT in liverpool last week. loved it.

Back when I was a kid, I did read the first book, but also, on PBS there was a TV movie version of the first book of the series. I didn't think it was bad, but because I saw it so many times, because PBS seemed to air this frequently during the day, I don't have interest in going to the theater to watch it again.
The rest of the family saw it last weekend. They all (aged 36, 10 and 6) said it was good.
I read the books when I was 10, or so, and loved them all. Probably get it on DVD for the kids, and will see it then.

I actually saw this with my wife (the one always wanted to see movies like this, and we dont have kids yet, I fear that day :lol: ) and it wasnt bad at all...
Pretty well done movie I'd say, but obviously, you can guess mostly what's going to happen, since it's a classic, classic will never be original as they are the ones people copy ;)
maybe it is unfair, i dunno... but I've always been turned off of the idea of reading the books or wanting to see the movie by the fact that consevative christians approve somewhat of the Narnia books and movie, and they usually disapprove of anything even mildly challenging or thought provoking... so maybe I'm just prejudiced against seeing the movie
I've not seen it yet, not that bothered about watching it. However, i watched "The Island" last night, and it's a crackin film. It's got some of the best stunts and chases i've ever seen. There's a couple of funny moments although it is definitely a 'serious' film.

The impression I got from seeing the trailers was "if you loved Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and The Passion of The Christ, but you're under the age of twelve, and also have a severe learning disability, or a drinking problem, and are easily amused...you'll love The Chronicles of Narnia!" 
So no, I don't really plan on seeing it
