Unless you mean ones that rule/ruled over the whole or various parts of the U S of A, they're more like noxious weeds!!....BTW, too hard to pick a top 5 for Gabriel...genius songwriter and to be heavily applauded for his collaborations with African and Middle Eastern artists both on his own recordings and through them being able to release/record albums of their own work via Real World studios/Records.

Haven't really listened to his more recent stuff, from what I've really liked from the past

Here Comes The Flood Solsbury Hill DIY Family Snapshot Don't Give Up

Almost forgotten about getting to meet him outside the Seattle Paramount in 83 with a buddy, PG was a very nice man. Excellent show.

Mine are probably all ancient Genesis tunes who's name I don't know. Still at least it kept that fucker Collins behind a kit where we didnt have to hear him sing.

If we were all taking the piss John it would have been a Top 5 Phil Collins, Micheal Bolton or Chicago thread.

i stand by mine and Johnny Macs words.

Peter Gabriel is utter drivel!!! and i'd certainly rank him alongside such other rubbish as Collins and Bolton.

mind you, having seen some of these music top 3's or 5's lately, it doesn't surprise me anymore. Only surprise, is by the lack of comment on this by Mr C.Owens.

Gabriel is shite. pure shite. and what a shitty way to clock up my 1000th post.

not to worry. you'll see the light...again soon.

i'm surprised by Uncle Liam liking this crap though. i thought he had some taste...though he would have only been about 3 when Sledgehammer came out!!:confused2: (NOT!!)

I would have been about 3 yes.

I think Gabriel is fantastic. His solo stuff pisses on what Genesid did after he left.

One of the best live performers around as well. Will hopefully catch him on his next tour, as thanks to Morrissey and Uni i missed him last time. :(

John do you actually know anything about Gabriel's solo records or are you basing your entire opinion on Sledgehammer alone?

Love Peter Gabriel, hate Genesis.

  1. I Have The Touch
  2. Don't Give Up (with Kate Bush)
  3. In Your Eyes
  4. Shock The Monkey
  5. Screaming Jets (by Johnny Warman with Peter Gabriel on backing vocals)

not really pal, but i remember that Monkey tune. i would have been about 17.

i only like indie/punk/alternative, which GABO certainly is not.

anyway...offski. have a good weekend

and may City triumph tomorrow in the Darb.

Fair dos, at least you stick to yer guns  but Gabriel is alternative.

He's also light years ahead of utter shite like Collins and Bolton, it's just unfortunate because of his short time in Genesis he's occasionally lumped in with that "shirt tucked into jeans" prog-rock brigade when his solo records have fuck all in common with that.

Lest we forget, his Realworld studio is where New Order put down some of their best material :thumb: I think whether you love or hate the guy it can't be denied he's an original, and there's precious few of them around these days.
