Fine. If you all want this forum, you can have it. I'm not out to make enemies or stronghandedly control things (which I thought I was doing in a rather tongue-in-cheek way, but I suppose the irony of handling things in an authoritarian way was lost) or anger anyone by locking threads. I still think the whole conflict was childish, hence my patronizing attitude. Of course I include myself in that childishness, but I think a lot of people (myself included) are far too touchy and can't have a laugh at themselves now and then. That especially includes those people who think they are being spoken down to. I didn't see everyone suddenly taking offence at that statement, just a few people. If I've made mistakes in my handling of silly squabbles, then I take responsibility for that. But regardless of moderator status, which means very little since I think actual moderating activities should only be exercised very rarely, I'm a regular BCD poster and I'm apt to make "sweeping generalizations" in exactly the same way that a lot of you other posters do. As a regular BCD poster and not someone who spends most of his/her time on other sections of the site, why should I not consider the quarreling of many BCD posters to be "childish" and yet stand by when other sweeping generalizations are made about various groups of New Order fans (e.g., Americans)? Apparently some people on both sides just can't take a fucking joke. I think a lot of this whole mess has been due to miscommunication and things being blown far out of proportion by a select few individuals, including myself, so there you go. Had I known ahead of time how to handle things, I would've done things differently, but what's done is done and I resign. If anyone's going to fuck off, it's me.

ah c'mon Popey. more use of smileys if you are takin the piss would help. I never liked using them at first but they remove any ambiguity. You did come across as a pompus git though. I've never met you, we would probably get on well, so how do I know you are having a laugh? On Re-reading your post its hard not to think you were being patronising.

We did try and give you advice and you chose to post a daft reply which upset a few people. Don't come across as too much of a cunt and don't go locking every thread and you'll be alright. If someone emails you then matters have to be taken further, that's where you use the moderator forum.
Most of the people who have overstepped the mark in the past have apologised and the past has taught Jeff and masel that things blow over very quickly (most of the time) and everyone's pals again.
We are glad of the help, so there's no need to fuck off anywhere. Chill and enjoy yerself.
Sorry for bumping this thread back up, but I wanna apologize to the Pope for any hard feelings. I've got to admit to a good deal of schadenfreude at seeing someone besides my president being burned in effigy for a change.
Must go now to record a ska-flavored protest song to free the locked threads.
