"Nissan North America and Microsoft have merged automobile design and gaming technology to create the first- fully integrated gaming system within a vehicle. Conceived by Nissan Design America and equipped with the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the Nissan URGE concept car allows drivers (while parked) to play “Project Gotham Racing 3” using the car’s own steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal while viewing the game on a flip-down seven-inch LCD screen."

What next? A game you play at home whereby the object is to arrive home, make a cup of tea, scratch yer nads & watch telly? :shrug:

gee, i never get angry at bad drivers and i would love to see folks pay less attention to the road. this sounds like a perfect idea to introduce to our vehicle-dependent culture!

Though I admit it might be an interesting idea to play such games in a real environment.. who is stupid enough to do this more than once?

And don't get me wrong.. Nissan is owned by Renault.. it's the french that gave the ok to this :lol:

And can I say that having ANYTHING related to Microsoft in a car is NOT a good news? Control quality is not their best quality let's say....

You know, I'd think it was bad enough with all the poor teenage gangbangers playing pornos on their DVD screens in dash that makes em all swervy and pervy - but this... THIS truly shows how stupid the market is getting and how much trust they put into the American consumer.

We seemingly cannot even pull over to talk on our cells, why and how do they think this will be properly used?

Another only in America : Anyone see the new Dodge Challenger? Good grief, I want me some revamped muscle car.

:wtf: Who needs this? I don't even understand why video and DVD players have been built into cars. Cassette players aren't bad; music really can't distract your driving as much as a video game. Isn't the purpose of having a car to drive it? And if you don't have a car, you take the bus for similar reasons - to get from one place to another. That doesn't involve a video game. Video games ought to stay in the arcade or the TV.

Some parents are obviously annoyed of doing vocal games with their kids while riding, so they have to plug them on TV or video game even when they spend time with them.

But that wasn't the point of this thread.. this was for the man behind the wheen using his own gear to play video game ;)

MS having anything to do with a moving vehicle scares the bollox out of me i must confess. Especially since it's ilegal to see their source code.

It's also illegal to see my own source code and I sure wouldn't want to give away all my secrets so anybody can steal them from me and use them as their own.

I have no problem with the open source concept, but also believe that MacOS, OS2 or Windows have all the right in the world to exist and to keep their intellectual property to themselves.

Do you seriously think the auto-pilot software of Boeing is open-source?

No, but I bet the source can be inspaected by the right people.

And I bet it doesn't have an EULA that says if it flies 400people into a mountain on purpose it's no ones fault.

the main reason I mentioned MS and closed source is that one look at their source would show all the good stuff is nicked :D
