Armstrong as a member of Ye Clash? Interesting, everyone's recruiting new blood these days. Maybe Barbra Striesand can recruit Celine Dion and they can make a joint go at it on the charts.

Or Joni Mitchell and Alicia Keys. Or Mick Jagger brings in that guy from A.F.I. McCartney and Gallagher... :evil4:

I was just listening to Rancid yesterday and thinking about the unbelieveable likeness to Strummer. I almost jumped on the reunion hating bandwagon but this I need to see.

Tim's a far better choice for an addition to the group than say... any of my other scary pairings. :D I look forward to at least seeing what he offers.

I saw The Clash with just Strummer and some new guys; they were ace. But The Clash with the original guys, but no Strummer-- that ain't The Clash.

Yuk. It'd only be acceptable if they (a) changed the name (b) performed almost solely all new material. (c) got someone's gf in to play keyboards.

Mick Jones has the sweetest twang, they can do it without gravel bollox. Saw the Clash in 84 without Jones, same thing really.

Hey, Regis Philbin hasn't got enough on his plate, why not contact him? :evil4:

Seriously, a bad idea. Strummer was an icon, nobody can fill his shoes so don't even try. :nonono:

Besides, all these groups from the Sixties/Seventies/Eighties "reuniting" are only after one thing: cold, hard cash, and people stupid enough to part with theirs for "a celebration of Jim Morrison/Ronnie Van Zant/Steve Perry's artistic legacy" (of course, Journey's former frontman is still alive, and still unable to live down "Oh Sherrie" :p ).

There's nothing to it more than covering the old tunes and coming up with half-baked retreads of the old material. Hell, they could turn it into a reality-show competition, like INXS did.

So I guess I'm not on board for the Rancid-Clash team-up
