Only i noticed this thread on the French bit and i'm a curious girl...

"NewOrder et l'humour anglais"

I did German at school so i don't understand it, but i guess it's something to do with English humour and i spotted "sarcastic" and "monty python" in there.

I wanna know what it says - come on wise ones enlighten me!!

I had two years of French in school. Something may have remained... But perhaps you better ask Spotnick  .

As far as I understand the thread starter talks about the dark and Monty Pythonesque humor which can be found in "New Order Story". His first example is Hookys answer to the question: "Who is your laziest bandmember?" and Hooky says "Ian Curtis. He didn't do anything for years." ...

Cheers ma dear, i'm just being nosey cos there isn't enough going on!!

I don't understand the second example but I think it is the fact that they placed Hooky for the interview among those chicks like a pasha...

Yeah, it's funny you can almost get the gist with some of the words, it's like that Fast Show sketch with the foreign newsreader going " eth eth eth eth eth Chrissie Waddle" !!!!

Hi,Missy and Bere Well, since i'm French speaking here goes : the thread starter's sayin' that over the years NewOrder have develop a smart and corrosive sense of humor (even if i suspect they had it all along since day 1 with IAN, which accordin' to the 3 was very funny and quite a relax person) like in the trivia hosted by Keith Allen in NewOrderStoryin which he asked which band Member is the most lazy and Peter replyin' that obviously it must be IAN since he hasn't done anything for years !!! And all the usual quips during their gigs + the very funny image of Peter interviewed surronding by er, say, very sexy lasses. That's pretty much the meaning. Hope it helps a bit. Yours friendly, Didier from Belgium

My translation somehow got lost when I tried to post it. But yeah, Didier is right. And by sexy lasses, the original author meant "luxury whores". :evil4:

  1. Ican read french very well but can't understand it spoken or speak it myself. Same to a lesser extent with German, I can often get the gist of something written in it (tho far from a great translation).
  2. I'd watched NO story about 50 times before I noticed this, so no shame on the rest of you....in fact it was a mate of questionable sexual orientation who pointed it out. Without spoiling it for those who aint noticed......take a closer look at those hotties surrounding Hooky.
  3. WTF would Bere want with a Bowlton lad...you aint seen they way they build blokes where she is!!! I'm afraid the scouser is your problem, look at it this way, your bestest E-mate in the world's from NI, if he nicks anythin on you...I'll blow his house up.

Je ne parle pas francais tre bien :p

I took French in high school (I was being practical, due to the large influx of French Canadians to our area), and I remember bits and pieces of it. Not enough to survive the mean streets of Bordeaux as a two-bit male hustler...which might be a good thing, actually. But I surpise myself with how much I can remember when I focus

anyways, any of you, despite what you think, wouldn't understand a word of french spoken between 2 persons from Quebec talking to each other...

You'd say "hey, I know french and that's not it!!"

Hehe. Rest assure, some of us still can speak international french.

after what must be at least four years of french, very little of it sticks in my brain. for some reason i am much better at spanish and italian, in which i have no training.

that is why he is no more moderator in la République numérique. We could not understand what he was writing because of his accent. we asked him to slow down when he was typing - in order to grab one word in a sentence at least... and it seems that he got bored of it...

sad story, isn't it ?
