United beat Liverpool 1-0 and moved four points clear of them in second place with a last minute header from Rio Ferdinand in a largely disappointing match. Liverpool will feel aggrieved at leaving Old Trafford empty handed after dominating possesion and creating the best openings with Cisse somehow blasting over the bar with the goal at his mercy, Gerrard firing wide and Crouch's shot well blocked by Brown. United pushed forward as the game seemed certain to end in stalemate and Rooney had a flashing shot which just went past the post. It was Ferdinand who had the final say though, heading past Reina from Ryan Giggs free kick to win the game.

Great header but...

Why was the pitch in such shit condition as though they took a tip from Burton Albion? There was only one side with a midfield out there today and lucky Cisse thought he was playing rugby. Squeaking the big games 1-0 at home is good but there's got to be more than that..

Jamie Carragher, Liverpool's Bootle-born defender is being honoured for his local charity work and the fine example he sets young people.

He becomes only the second person to receive the accolade of THE FREEDOM OF SEFTON and will have the honour bestowed on him by the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor John Walker, at a private ceremony in his hometown.

(i'd love to know who the first person was) (anyway, he lives in bleedin Southport dunhe)

Southport is part of Sefton I think anyway. Cheer up John at least we kept Arsenal at bay for you.

in a match i decided to part with £7 to watch on Prem Plus. I fell asleep on the couch at the start of the 2nd half. but at least i saw Beatties good goal. What's wrong with Arsenal away? a totally different team to the one at Highbury. which is good!!! :clap:

yeah.

they should do away with the oppositions half at Highbury, and just play on half a pitch.

mind you, it still wouldn't affect that motionless statue like crowd of theirs. i'm talkin about the stand across the other side of the pitch as you see it on tv, by the wheelchair section. no one moves. they are just a bunch of dead bodies in seats. check it out.
