here's tip don't post whilst on any chemical enhancements, or when you feel like a drunk junky, and people might actually take your posts seriously.

don't leave this world on our account, but please start making at least some sense.

It would be funnier as boy, but I nicked the quote off a chat I had with a fellow nerd, and figured I'd just unleash it in its official glory. $tablename got bling, yo.

:evil4: Just throw this into your pool of NOOL women kid pictures. I was funny as a 3 year old. I'm interested enough to know what you've done to your kit, expecially if it needs nifty special effects like a PJ movie. :shades:

Whatever you do, don't push that big button over there! :eek3:

Err....maybe it's me, maybe it's you...I said

~ boy

as in ~ as in cd ~ as in HOME (am I being irritatingly obvious enough about it :D )

Point one...the big button... >UBERFROB every time, insatiable button presser....but even worse...I usually press em again whith my head inside to see what went on.

Point Two...LOL what you tryin to do to me girl, I have no file of NOOLette sprong pics..OMG I know yer from TX and all, but c'mon. (errrr they DO do those weirdo peadopagents in Tex don't they?... you know...6 yrolds in slut gear, fake tits ... hang on... the fake tits is from Brass Eye, must stay focused)

Point 2.5...... Turkish Men LOL my boss goes to the same town over there every year cos she thinks it's the only place anyone will sleep with her (in fairness, it's the only place she has a choice of men, here she can only have thick skinned, desperate chubby chasers)....and boy do they queue up, then the letters start "can you send me money, can you help me get passport".

Point Three....ahhh me penguin. Well before Xmas I did an automated update....but I have one or two bleeding edge packages (certain versions of transcode and ffmpeg I needed for DVD ripping and authoring for instance). So being a lazy fucker I told it to allow any and all homicially new/dodgy/weird things it felt it needed. Apart from having to manually downgrade FLAC cos it would no longer play any flac files (oddly enough the same version No. in windows did the same!), I got away with it. Then came the scary moment...the reboot. EVERYTHING worked forst time depsite a changeover from defvs to udev for hardware handling (I miss mknod at least you could fuckin reason with it). The only warning I got was broadly this... "See your netconf scripts mate, they be old and depricated, see our new example and rewrite accordingly" twas a 20 second rewrite....once I got thru the usual Gentoo overloaded example script which had examples for everything from a machine with a modem, to a cluster running the whole internet. Then the other day I reboot. No networking, in fact, INIT screams blue bastard murder about "bringing up ETH0 failed, no loaded module provides 192.168.0.1" And the same for all the other parameters you usually set up for your ethernet "no loaded module provides". And all network depended services duly fail too. Hello says I, someone doesn;t know howto parse it's own fuckin script. So I checked and my network script was fine. but I put my old "depricated" one back (I never throw config scripts out, my /etc is FILLED with $FILENAME.saveass and foo.unfuck type things). And up she comes a treat (with the "decpricated syntax" warning again.) BUT....I have no idea from whence .lo is configured, so the machine starts with an eth0 and no loopback to localhost. Machine is therefor viciously unhappy and wont do dick. So I manually did "ifconfig lo 127.0.0.01" and it got happier. It's far from happy yet tho, samba will not serve to the windows machine and root logins have a tendency to lock up and die if left alone too long. And of course the machine has been running just under 5 days and if I reboot I'll lose any kind of local loop again.

Mad one eh?

On the plus side, my head's quite clear today so I may go grepping for the truth.

just thinking..... Any windows user reading this would wonder how anyone gets anything done on such a twisted and bonkers system.....but what's the first thing YOU think when faced with that XP networking dialogue.....me, I think..."what is wrong with a nice text file where I tell you what to do and you do it"

LOL

 Our wires got crossed, I got the ~boy pun, and just forgot to put that in my reply. Slippery fingers, these.

 @ point 2. No no, it's just you had another picture going round the other day. One day you can use this to a quiz advantage. "Who is this weird NOOLer"

point three reminds me of a reboot I did last november that to this day I cannot figure out how it messed a few things up, namely my samba profiles. took five minutes to fix, but it was really annoying not realizing Ginger'd (1) rebooted a few days beforehand without my knowledge and (2) that it'd wiped a few key config files that handled a few different jobs I had running for people.

I set paths for HOSTS on Fred, and was having issues accessing a site a while back. Didn't even occur to me at first to check the file; instead spent a good hour or so scouring a bunch of different settings and calling around to a few people seeing if they were having an issue with our ISP blocking anything.

Definitely my "oh, I'm a dolt" moment. Simple answers to computer problems? Never!

I sure hope so, as I've never done any drugs and I can't stand smoke...

Unless of course you count alcohol as drugs, then that's something else....!

Ok, I didn't visit Amsterdam yet :D

I fixed it.....turned out my command "fucking" ( which is an alias of ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86....gentoo's prefix to the emerge command to allow dodgy or devel versions.....so I can type..."fucking emerge transcode" it keeps me off the streets) had in fact allowed me to install a PRE_ALPHA version of bash. hardly a fucking shock I was getting parse errors then is it LOL

When Guzunda reboots (invariable because of a power outage) we all stand round and watch and listen as she cranks intolife, wondering if all the BS my Bro has done on her in the N months since she was last offline is all gonna catch up with us, somedays we get the bear, some days the bear gets us :)

As for the subject of this thread, not being one for TOTAL threadjacking (AHEM).... Stoners should not deal with straight edgers and vice versa.... It's just never gonna work. Stoners should stick with others cimple as that and people who don't do it often think a joint is the same thing as a needle in yer arm (while necking vodka and smokin a fag usually) so they're gonna think they have to "help you" by getting you down the pub and getting all that nice taxable liver toxin into you.

oh my @ all the geekery going on in midts of the thread. :D

re :topic -

Birds of a feather should flock together, or someone has to change. It's hard to be really together with someone who's going to participate in something that will affect the relationship like that in some degree, and it's equally as hard to be the person who enjoys such things and be with someone who doesn't.

So, yeah, it's possible. As with all things love wise, it takes a little work on both parts to come to an understanding. ;)

Probably legal more places than not :D plenty of places in Europe and your own great nation have adopted a VERY relaxed attitude while not really taking the teeth out of the laws. In truth that's the best they can do short of full legalization and Govt controlled supply (legalization while hoods are still invoved could get messy)

Is it possible to love someone who has an overwhelming addiction to Moutain Dew? :nervous:

Because if I had to choose between MD and the love of my life...that would be a tough call :faint: :banghead:
