just read in the paper that Bryant got 81 points in a match the other night. that's amazing!!!

used to watch it a lot in the early 90's with Magic, MJ, Bird and Barkley. don't anymore.

I grew up in the next town (and I went to the prom where he took brandi) and being involved in basketball I got to see him play a couple times while he was in high school. Really fookin good..

but he's still a spoiled wanker. His dad gave him everything that he could ever want and a world class education, which he threw away like a street thug to play basketball as if it was his only way out of the "mean streets" of lower merion pa. Maybe his mansion was too small.

I think Kobe is an interesting example of "too much, too soon". Chriss is right that he's not much of a team player. Sometimes that's understandable (if say, he were surrounded by the Harlem Globetrotters, he'd be the only one stressing and not given to trick shots), but he's basically being selfish. He forced Shaq out, and now he's "the man" in LA.

Of course, that doesn't change the fact that he's a rapist

Dr. J always gets left out of the discussion when Bird and Majic are brought up. He didn't have as many rings, but the guy was amazing. Plus, in his ABA days, he had one of the coolest fro's of all time.

Thanks for cheering me up about how good Portland used to be, there's been a fan backlash about the idiots who both ran the franchise and played for 'em in the last few. Used to be impossible to get tickets, now they can hardly give 'em away, but they are indeed on the way back to the top, just after we hit rock bottom this year.::)

Gotta give it up for Kobe though, at least he had two assists this game for hitting an open teammate for a basket, in the 62 point game through three quarters against Dallas, he didn't have one. Progress, of sorts I guess.

Well Tex, there've been efforts to win the fans back by getting rid of most of the idiots (Bonzi, Rasheed, Rider, the goofball who raised pitbulls to fight each other, etc) , getting rid of an incompetent GM (Bob Whitsitt), hiring an excellent coach (Nate McMillan) . By doing so, it's been a good start to reach out to the embarrassed and oft-alienated fans, even though we lost to Denver last night, blowing an 11 point fourth quarter lead, it was good to hear a loud crowd on the TV. Back in the heyday of the great Blazer teams, one could hardly hear themselves think in the extremely small, but extremely loud, Memorial Coliseum. In short, we just want a team that will play hard, and not do stupid things in public off the court. I don't think that's asking a lot.
