Yeah those were the creatures...
Maybe they created us after they got bored with Earth and our souls are theirs?
the technology how to build the pyramids wasnt forgotten,it was abandodned as lego had threatened to sue.
and the sacoghicous (lol) wasnt chomped out with a laser, ill think you will find it was done on a very hot day with a bloody big magnifying glass.
or so im told.

Wwhhoooo o o , thats DEEP man![]()
Sure, why not, I'm all for wild speculation and crackpot theories, I enjoyed the one that said that the earth was gonna undergo a catalysmic shift on 5/5/2000 cause of the buildup in the polar caps.
Must be the cold medicine talking, when I first saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought "Who said there was ever intelligent life on earth?" ![]()
Blimey, 5 votes to 0.Cambo will be along in a while though, to kill the theory stone cold dead![]()
Over to you ,Steve
YES-me and i am still here.ROCKET Mick has been to a lot of PLANETS but some don't do KFC.Can you believe it?What a fcuking liberty. The bald eagle has landed in it AGAIN! :D
For once I aint gonna stick a flag in this one and start defending a position.
my inner jury is still out on it.
One thing is sure.... progress is, by and large an illusion, for each new technology we invent and adopt, we invent 5 others that are lost for ages or forever, and we also lose the older ones. Not every modern process is better than the one that preceeded it, it may form a more convenient compromise is all. Think of a recent technology, the CD..... The original design had the data layer inside 2 pieces of optical glass. A new method was developed to make them cheaper out of plastic and a spray on reflector....result cheaper CD's but the indestructability is lost. Digital sound Vs analogue is another example.....clearer, better on a meter....but better to the ear?
I certainly believe much has been from recent (geologically speaking) human history....mainly due to fucking Christians and to a MUCH lesser and later extent muslims (the early islamic scholars were great men of science, while the fucktard xtians torched the library of alexandria and At A STROKE set the human race back 1000 years). The greeks for example had a working steam engine and programmable automatic machines.
But further back, you get into all the whacky stuff in ancient legends. The Ancient Indian sanskrit stuff like the mohaborata (spelled wrong for sure) in particular is full of jet fighters anti grav platforms and atomic weapons, if you want to read it that way (but even the makers of the insane TV tales took a different view). But there are several places on Earth where rocks have been found fused into glass....in a way that we have only ever observed at an H-bomb (being WAY hotter than yer bog standard A-bomb) epicentre. The Maya (the non siberian mental case sort) reckon the world's had it's number come up several times before, and that the next one is IT (2012 I believe.....nostrildamnedass reckoned it was this year (well he did 3 years ago, before that it was 2000 and before than 1995))
I like to play with this thought tho.
Given there is no surviving soft tissue, on what do we base our assertion that dinosaurs were morons? Mere brain cavity size? More than one species has proved to have had more than one brain, who can say how many some may have had in locations where it would not have left a good fossil clue? Who is to say their neuron density was the same as ours, or that they too only bothered their arses with 10% of their brain capacity.
I think they MAY have been smarter than we think, MAY have had a technology (we can barely find evidence of protohuman tech, from 1000 times as short a time ago) and they MAY have brought about their own mass extinction.
I'd like to think we get SOMETHING of ourselves off this rock and out there proper before our technology (and our race) goes tits up. Let's try not to fuck Drake's equation up by reducing the value for L to an unfeasibly small number.
i don't really think so. surely there would be at lest some evidence surviving.
there are persistent rumours about atlantis, and that its culture spread to egypt, and the americas. i don't buy it. from recent scolorship (don't ask me to privide sources here)we learn that atlantis was just a minor culture on a greek island that was destroyed in a vulcano explosion. the legend probably grew out of the destrucion of the first minoan culture on crete, when the near island of thera blew up at around 1500 bc.
i believe that all ancient cultures are the result of the achievements of the native inhabitants. unless you like some believe that alien visitations helped to push these along. i don't subscribe to this theory either.

yeah, and what's it to you, I don't have a problem alright.... i'm a social thinker. Well OK I think alone too, but only cos errrrrrrr....anyway I can handle it.

Is that why you can't spread marmalade on them anymore?

I think it's the Minoans and the Volcano was santorini (both spelled wrong)
But it does show that legend is always grounded in fact.
I dunno WHAT tech we have lost, but we could NOT build the pyramids today! Even with all our gadgetry, never mind trying to do it without. (ever noticed in European or American movies Egyptians are white blokes with a wee bit of a tan?..... KKK infiltration....can;t hack the fact that the greatest engineers the earth has so far seen were "stupid ignorant n*s" hehehehe, god I love it when facists get confused).
Aliens tho? Bleeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bzzzzzzzt 2 points also why u can no longer drive cars over them. When CD's were still VERy new I hired one for the video library, and it was a real deal, last one I ever seen. I have a couple of oddities here, a glass+reflective spray one and a 2x platic layers one ( a BBC FX disk)
DID you know they don;t play very well at the poles (or the equatr I can never remembe which) cos the precession caused by the coriolis effect (thing that many wrongly believe makes water sprial down the plug and rightly a pendulem start to twist) makes em wobble too much. Also LOTS of cd players work like DOS machines, they need to read "what do I do if the user presses stop" from the disc. Put one in upside down some time and see how long it takes you and how clever you need to get to get it back.
I read that even the biggest of the biggest cranes in the world today could not lift one of those blocks to the top of the great Pyramid
I agree some technology can get forgotten. If there's no need for it maybe it would be
Oh ,and it's Dec 24th 2012 that the Mayans predicted is the end of the world.Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean we'll all get wiped. It could mean any number of things.Maybe just the end of things as we know them

Umm...dinosaurs didn't wear pants.
Which, by extension means they did NOT wear socks making them as intelligent as Einstein.
(PS.... you know they didn;t wear pants how?)
sauropod fashion a big thing with you? :D
Nobody ever discovered remains of dinosaur pants. How can they have had technology if they didn't even have pants?
Mostly the whole "Alien Race Built the Pyramids" and other sundry wonders o' the world 'theory' chalks down to some crackpot pseudo-scientists demanding that Egyptians, Mesoamericans, Malays, and mainland asians were all too stupid and ignorant to have been able to figure out engineering and geometry before The White Man did :(.

who said they were lifted up there? scaffolding + thousands of expendable slaves + a system of logs and ropes = pyramid building.

i believe that most of the labourers on the pyramids were not actually slaves, but seasonal agricultural workers who paid their taxes and paid homage to their gods by working on the pyramids. recent evidence has shown that although there were plenty of broken bones, they were actually looked after quite well. well fed and the fractures were actually set.

I see your point....but pants would not fossilize :D (possibly Ben's would after he's been thinking about Maya)

i have said it before in another tread. it smacks of racism to belittle the achievements of various cultures, by assuming they could not have possibly built the pyramids etc by themselves.
According to legend, there was once a race of people so advanced in their technology and understanding of the universe that they managed to achieve space exploration, navigate the seas at will, and impose a fair but democratically elected system of government upon their people (many of whom came from other lands to seek refuge in this bastion of freedom and equality). Their achievements were recorded not as history but as a sign of the future to come, for surely they would never suffer the cruel fates that had befallen other civilizations with similar claims to dominance? Right?...![]()
Then they elected this guy:
And a hundred and twenty-five years of progress were washed down the drain within a mere five + years in office ![]()

yeah i know.the crane thing was just one method that was mentioned

When lightning strikes e.g quartzites they get fused to glass. Fossilised ones are called fulgarites and are quite common.

Don't think many people say they were morons - a lot of the recent fossil discoveries in China such as fossilised nesting sites show that many were social and gregarious and well ordered. Their extinction was at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary (called K-T)65 million years back, many other species didnt survive through either so if they fucked up they fucked up for everybody else too! There is a rather large meteorite impact site at Chichxulub in the Yucatan peninsula which would have been a planet changing impact based on its size. At the same time on the other side of the world, The Deccan Traps, bit like your Antrim basalts only 100 times more lava, were spewing out so it would have been a real double whammy. Maybe some alien race fired a big iridium laden cannonball to wipe out the dinosaurs but the balance of probability is a meteor. There was probably one too in the Permian (250 million years ago) which wiped out a whole lot more than this one did. Next one should be interesting...
the dinosaurs were certainly one of the most successful forms of life on earth, having existed for far longer than we have, or probably will. i do doubt that they were any more intelligent than say their nearest living relatives the birds.
