Mystery Jets opened up. Utter mess, but there's something worthwhile in there.
We Are Scientists sounded like any indie band going today.
Maximo Park headlined. They sounded like any indie band going today.
A good night out, and excellent value for money :D
Maximo Park were the pick of bunch. Really liked the Mystery Jets. Strange lot but their new single "The Boy who ran away" is superb.

I don't believe every word the NME prints. I don't think 'Right, (insert any upcoming indie band) are really hip, because Mark Beaumont and Dan Martin say so, so I must like them.' I listen to the music and base my own judgements on it.
Plus you have misread my quote on Mystery Jets. Although I said they were an utter mess, I also said there is something worthwhile in there. Meaning that if they stick around and develop, they could be something special. Go back and read it.
As you may have noticed, I'm into different styles of music, Mrs. Liam. It's not unusual to like metal, indie, punk, dance, hip hop and goth music.

Very much. Have never seen a crowd go so mad for a band whos album hasn't even been out for a week yet even though people have been file sharing their tracks for the past while. Really enjoyed their set last night.

Rolling bass lines, chords a la Franz and (in Maximo Park's case) some keyboards.
When We Are Scientists started the first song, it sounded like the Strokes. Never a good thing in my book. I blotted out the rest, due to sheer boredom.

The music never gelled together to become cohesive IMO. However, maybe that's the point of them.

Shit no. There were some 30 - 40 year olds moshing. It was mad.

I wasn't convinced. Even though I think they're brilliant songwriters, I thought they were really poor live.

In parts, yes. Reptilia could have been on the first Franz album.
However, perhaps I did not make myself clear enough. What I argue is that The Strokes and Franz are two of the most influential indie bands currently, so there are a lot of imitations of their sound e.g. Strokes - We Are Scientists Franz - Rakes, Maximo Park.
