Words you've not heard for years...

Top thread. Comes up every now and again - the last time got me into saying "Ace" all the time, after at least twenty years. I've progressed to "brill" now which is, well, brill!
The best word of all is "hapless". If you've used it, you've had a good day.
Stuart Hall laughing in his bronchial way, Eddie Waring and the inevitable "Luxembourg, nul points" at the end of each game...

Amusingly, the first EVER game of footie I went to we put 7 past Baa-rdiff. And I've never seen us hit 7 in a solitary game since. Boo hoo.

Don't know if i'm laughing at Arsenal in the top 4, or Luton scoring 7 goals![]()

Well i should look on the brightside of things- it's not like Luton have EVER managed to beat us in an important cup final or anything- is it?![]()

I have no idea.....it was fucking torture back in 1975, and put me off Hammond organs for a good 20 years...I'm not about to seek it out.
The point was that I hadn't heard that stupid fucking intro (over the VERY cheap Anglia TV logo...even UTV's was nicer....a terrible indictment), since at the very latest 1982.
SHRIEK.... my brain just forced me to remember "Mr and Mrs"

nope they replaced him with someone called glen ridge almost 10 years ago. then it went off the air about four years ago, only to come back as temptation last year, with new host ed phillips. it is almost exactly the same show with even the same old lines.
I haven't heard anyone say 'upset the applecart' since Steve said it on the Accademy interview.

i'll take your word on it, as with most things. what production company holds the rights there? is it Grundy? they are originally from Oz and produce it here, and at least in some oversees countries.
yup, the aussies (grundy) own the rights. as with what seems like most game shows.
p.s. you don't have to take my word on it--just wikipedia it! though i thought it was created by one of our 'big three.'
